Got a thing for SBRs and while it isn't a HK factory offering I'd love to find a good 51. For now I'm content with it's little brother.......

Sorry for the thread drift but I am a big fan of the rifles....very heavy, but very robust

No one has mentioned that some JLD/PTRs have problems with their trunions.

The bolt gap will progressly diminish with time until there is a catastrophic failure.

This was true with the earlier guns.

Something to do with the improper annealing of the trunion during assembly.

They replaced whole guns because of this issue.

There was a good post about accurazing them a couple months ago, that you can probably find with a search.

They do get fairly fouled after shooting, but nothing a good cleaning can't take of. They are pretty reliable rifles, but I've seen stoppages that I believe were due to fouling.

I haven't checked recently, but mags used to be fairly easy to find and cheap.

It used to be that there were only a couple of options for mounting scopes, but I believe there are at least a few more options available to low mount scopes now.

Probably more the shooter then the rifle. Also more then likely a clone and not a real HK.

You may be right, although I spent a fair amount of time sand bag shooting the rifle while scoping it in.

And, NO, it is an HK, not a clone. Nice try though. It seems to me that at the time I was shooting Greek and Portuguese surplus. I was getting @ 6-8" groups at a hundred yards. I haven't tried any premium match grade ammo and it would be interesting to see if this makes a difference.

A williams trigger job and stronger buffer will make the HK91 extremely accurate.

Quite possibly so, however I was interested in finding out what a stock rifle was capable of before modifying it.

How much would a HK 91 run if it had an HK lower and a FA 91 aftermarket upper in decent condition?

I wouldn't give more than a couple hundred dollars for a for a gun Federal Arms FA91 receiver ...its a parts kit waiting to happen. The alloy which those receivers are made of just dosen't hold up ... its been proven time after time.

If you really want something you'll find a way ...
... if you don't you'll find an excuse.
