So this gun uses the same lower as the
rest of the 556 family?

If I want a "Classic" style folding lower,
I can just get this gun and swap the lower?

Those that know, your advice is appreciated.

The 552 has a polymer lower. I don't know how interchangeable they would be.

They are not interchangeable as per Sig.

The Sig 522 is not in any part interchangeable with the 556. It does have an Aluminum upper and a polymer lower receiver. It unfortunately only comes with only one magazine and no type of sights at all but I still like it. But Sig had better have some adjustable sights available for this thing pronto.

Sig 522 Range Report. I had it out yesterday and today. No sights came with it so I mounted a Burris 4 power scope that I had and sighted it in.

Yesterday I ran 200 Remington Golden HVs and 50 CCI Mini mags thought it with no malfunctions even when I mixed them up in the same magazine. I loaded 25 or 26 in the mag each time.

Today I ran a Winchester 333 bulk pack through it with zero malfunctions. I shot from sitting position at 50 yards for the targets shown in the pictures. There are 25 rounds in each target.

Then I went to picking off some aluminum cans which was easy from a standing position, very rapid fire.

I also own a GSG-5, a Walther G22 and an AMT 25/22 (Ruger 10/22 clone). I rate this Sig 522 higher than the GSG-5 and the Walther and about equal to the AMT except it is cooler looking.

If I can get a decent set of BUIS and about four more magazines for it I think it will be very nice.

Regards, Vince

Vince,

At what distance to the target were you shooting?

Very nice. Thanks for the range report.

How would you compare it's perceived quality to that of the GSG5? I've got one, and would really like a 522 and am interested to know if the 522 feels as toy-like as the GSG5, especially since it's got a polymer lower.

Would you mind sharing what you paid?
