I went into my usual front this morning to pick up five or six boxes of Federal 230gr .45 ACP practice fodder, as that's all they usually have in stock. Anyway, so I stroll up to the counter and see that they've got a whole mess of WWB 230gr. JHPs.....FINALLY! I see the price tag and although I shuddered at the thought of paying $29.97 for a 50 rd box, I knew that once these were gone I'd probably not see them back in that store in months. So I took two of the good stuff, the 230gr. JHP, and four boxes of Federal practice ammo at $14.97 each. I pay the bill and leave. Later in the day - about three hours ago - I had to stop in at another one of the Wally's to pick up some miscellaneous crap and, of course, I had to make the mandatory trip to the back of the store to see the ammo selection. What the f**k did I see?! The same 50 rd boxes of WWB JHPs that I just picked up about an hour before but this time they were priced at $19.97! A whole ten bucks cheaper! Man was I pissed! I could not believe that just down the road about 12 miles the other way the same ammo was a damn ten spot more expensive! I bought the last four of those that they had there for 20 bucks each and now I know which one to go to first, or at least call. I've seen a price difference from store to store before but usually it's only a few quarters or even just a dollar at the most, NEVER have I seen a 33% difference in such a close distance. Not even from region to region.
Lesson learned? Call around before automatically going into your "normal" Wal-Mart as you just may save alot of cash on ammo. Do yourselves a favor and take my hard lesson learned as advice. MAKE THE CALL FIRST!
You see? You see? I located some more of these WWB 230gr JHPs in the next county but just across the harbor (not a long drive at all) for $18.97 each! Eighteen-freakin'-ninety seven!!! 11 bucks cheaper than my initial purchase yesterday! WTF is up with the big difference in price on the .45 ACP? And apparently it's only the .45 Auto JHPs and nothing else. Maybe I should keep driving around. It seems the further I get from home the price goes down each time. Hope I don't stray too far though as I'll just end up using that extra $$$ for gas.
ask for a partial refund, its freakin walmart, they'll do almost anything.

I tried. Apparently there's now fine print at the bottom of the receipt that either I never noticed before or was not there but it states "ALL AMMUNITION SALES FINAL".
I was in Big 5 yesterday. They had (3) boxes of 100 round WWB (not hollowpoints) for..... ready?..... $53.99 per box!
My eyes bugged out and I politely said no thanks.
.................................................................................................................. A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.∑ Cicero, 42 B.C.
