Just something I found interesting, and since im going to be buying some stuff, I wanted to see what the price difference was.

A few things to note. This isnt really comparing apples to apples. Most of the ammo was the cheapest stuff I could find on the site (if they even had anything in stock). It ended up being Wolf or Brown Bear the majority of the time. Canned Heat was the bulk stuff. Also, shipping is to Western PA. I know Aim and Canned Heat had different rates so anther thing to think about. Here is the chart.

One thing you will notice right away. No one really has .45, and everyone seems to have 5.56 in stock. Yellow highlights the best price per round. As you can see. Palmetto State Armory wins in .45 and 5.56, and comes in a close 2nd in everything else.

Aim has some deals, but the 9mm stuff was some brand I never heard of. Ammo man seems to be pretty consistent on having cheaper rates, but not the cheapest. The blue, is Federal ammo thats on sale and seems like a good deal.

If anyone has any other bulk dealers that list both price and shipping rates, i will add it to the chart. As long as the stuff in in stock.

FYI, the Tula at AIM is made by one of the companies, Tula, that makes ammo for Wolf. Wolf doesn't make their own ammo, they have companies like Tula make it for them. Someone here said that they got some ammo with Wolf headstamps.

Palmetto State Armory has consistently been amongst the best in price since the hoarding started. Their shipping on a case (1k rounds) of .223 earlier this year was $12. Very reasonable IMO. Service is great too.

I stopped at the FFF in Wooster about a month ago on a trip from Toledo to my house. I couldn't believe the ammo they had at good prices. Spent more on it than I did on my hotel in Toledo for 3 nights. Sounds like I need to make another road trip, it's about a 2 hour drive for me.

I am new to the centerfire shooting, using a Sig p226. Are the 9mm guns sensitive to ammo like the rimfire ones?

Can I use the Tula 9mm Luger 115 Grain FMJ and not have too many problems? I understand they may not be as accurate, but to just punch some holes in paper they look like an affordable way to practice.

Thanks for the advice,

Newbie Mike

Some people do not like the Russian steel cased ammo because they think it will hurt the gun. You probably can find a few days worth of comments both ways if you search this and any other firearm forum.

Some guns will like a brand of ammo and dislike another brand. My S&W M&P 9mm doesn't like the Winchester White Box (WWB)sold at Walmart. I shot PMC Bronze and the groups shrank. Your 226 may or may not be like my gun.

Buy a box or two of Tula and try it. It should be OK. You may want to clean the chamber area after shooting it.

You should tack Walmart onto the list....see how everything changes. I know for a fact they would win over in 9mm & .45 (when you can find it)

Thanks for all the input.

cgode - I am in Stamford, how about you?

As for ammo, the wife and I were able to get 6 boxes of Federal at the local walmart at 9.98 a box. They say they have a regular supply (?) so I will be stopping in a few days a week to see if that is true. They keep the handgun ammo out of sight (with shotgun ammo on the open shelf) maybe that helps with casual shoppers.
