With so much ammo why do you have more on order? I can't imagine you're running out any time soon, and the prices are still coming down.

EDIT: just noticed you're in CA. With your ammo restriction coming up it makes sense.

And there you have it.

What is the restriction coming up in ammo in Cali?

AB962. Ban on mail-order handgun ammunition.

Not to mention if you buy ammo locally, sellers are required to keep a record of every sale & take fingerprints from the buyers . . .

^ Rest assured that I'm not nearly desperate enough to drive to AZ just for some ammo. Besides I've got until Feb 2011 before the mail order/internet ban goes into effect - thats 15 months for some advanced planning Wink

Get Cracking!!

The Phx metro gun shops that I've been in lately are expecting the CA people to be showing up.

Funny but sad thing is Some AZ people are going back into hoarding because they are afraid that CA virus law could work it's way here, and that within the next 15 month CA people will be buying AZ ammo.

It's not that CA people are driving here for ammo. It's that Dad, mom, brother, sister, boyfriend, girlfriend, old friend, coming through AZ that's going to be buying the ammo. While driving through AZ to CA.

What about that neighbor that went to see someone out of state. You gave him 500 buck and asked that when he's coming back if he could stop in AZ and get a bunch of ammo.

I expect to see big semi-truck parked near gun shops in the future. Not that they are buying a truck load of ammo, but they are buy all the 9mm they can get their hand (like 2000 rds) on for someone back in CA that willing to pay extra or not for the ammo.

No one has said anything but I would think CA ammo prices are going back up if you can even find it now.

CA, times have change for you. I'm assuming All CA people are rethinking their ammo reserves. Confused

I forgot one, don't forget to ask grandma and grandpa to stop for ammo on their way to CA.

I thought there was a lot of CA people that came the Phx December gun show (west coast largest). It's going to be a mad house in the years to come.

It would stand to reason that ammo prices MUST increase in CA when the law goes into effect. The dealer will have to fill out lots more paperwork and there will need to be some type of system to track purchases for the state. All that cost will not be absorbed by small gun shops, they will pass it on.
The question is, will the laws be so strict on large shipments to dealers, that the suppliers will add a surcharge to California shipments? or will they stop selling to California altogether?

If guns cause crime, mine must all be defective...

I would have guessed the price of ammo has already went up due to a new demand. But you are right, consumer will pay for the new paperwork and file cabinet.

Already spoke to the dept mgrs at my local WMs that currently sell ammo. WM will simply stop selling ammo after Jan 31, 2011 . . .

And that's EXACTLY what the authors of this bill want.

Start reloading? Wait. Is that a question or a statement?

I keep enough components on hand to reload 2-3000 in my usual calibers.

+ 1 sniper134spd. That is how I feel. I shoot at least 3000 rounds a year of centerfire handgun ammo on the low end and up to 5000 rounds on average per year. Some years, I've shot 10,000 rounds.

I expect to see a lot more Californians at the Crossroads show in Phoenix in December.

Hoarding? No - unless you count two bricks of .22 minimags.

No commercial ammo either. I have 100 rounds of my .45 carry ammo, and 50 rounds of my 9mm carry ammo (I don't normally carry my 9mm).

For pistol I do have 2,000 FMJ bullets, 12lbs of powder, and around 8,000 primers as well as about 10,000 cases of various calibers.

For rifle I have about 300 rounds of commercial ammo, 300 pieces of brass (that I still need to process), and enough primer/powder/bullets to load 400 rounds.
