I have always wanted to use brass ammo. What has been your experiance in using the other case metals? Am I taking any chances by not using brass?

The Blazer aluminum runs fine in my 226, 239 & P7. I remember when a sale was $4.99/box. Frown

Along with various brass-cased ammo, I have used Blazer aluminum, Wolf steel and Brown Bear steel. ALL OF THEM have gone bang for me and my wife. They have all worked just as well as brass cased ammo. Blazer aluminum I find quite clean shooting; the Wolf and Brown Bear a bit on the dirty side - but I clean after each shooting session. These all worked fine in my 228, 229s and 239. For range ammo I just buy what's cheapest.

I really like Blazer Aluminum. (I liked it way better at $3.89 a box.)

The various steel cased stuff has all worked fine for me too, although most of that commie powder seems to burn less cleanly.

I've probably shot 10,000 or more rounds of Blazer Aluminum through Sigs without incident. It's great stuff!

Wideners has been very good to me, too. I have never had a problem w/ CCI BLAZER (American made) ammo. Wolf .40 broke the extractor in my SP2340. SIG Factory repaired no cost/prompt service.
FYI: back in WWII, the U.S. issued some steel cased ammo (45acp). This was due to wartime scarcity of brass, copper etc. I can't remember where I heard/read it, but if you put a small drop of oil in the extractor HINGE, it helps reduce functioning problems.

I have heard people speculate that steel cased ammo cause premature breakage of extractor. Hard to know for sure as extractors break that have only been feed non steel cased ammo. But it makes sense. That is why I like blazer as aluminum is soft and in theory at least should cause no problems. I try and restrict my use of steel cased ammo to guns designed for it. Or as someone put it commie ammo for commie guns.

I've only had my 229 since November, and I've literally put 5000 rounds of CCI Aluminum through it to date with no problems.

And this is on top of another assorted 3000 rounds of various brass and steel stuff, and tons of reloads from my local range.

I know the 229 is superb weapon, but the CCI is just plain good inexpensive and reliable ammo no matter what you are shooting it in.

And Widener's is THE BEST - can't say enough good things about those guys - they are the Anti-SportsmansGuide!

I just got 500 rounds of this from Wideners. It shoots just fine in the P6 and it wound up being a bit cheaper than if I'd bought the same amount of WWB from Walmart. I figure I'm also saving the hassle and gas cost to drive to walmart for ammo.

I just ordered a case of 9mm and a case of .45ACP in the Aluminum Blazer. I've shot at least 4 or 5 full cases of this in various calibers and have never had a problem except for maybe 1 or 2 bad primers.

Also, this will be at least my fourth order from Wideners. Every past order has gone 100% smoothly without a hitch. A+ for them.

What kind of delivery time are you guys getting from Wideners?

Same ammo is on sale at Natchez Shooters Supply for $7.99/box, but they won't ship to Alabama.
