I ordered 1000 rounds of Federal .223 with 63gr Speer SP. What I got appears to be reloads. They are mostly loaded in Speer cases, but the first box I opened included a Remington cased round. I was surprised to see Speer cases, but don't know yet if that is possible for Federal ammo, but I'm pretty damn sure that Federal doesn't use Remington cases. I cannot get them on the phone, so I emailed and I am waiting on a response.

I will update when I know more.

Are they in Federal boxes? Call Federal and ask them what they are...or if they have been repackaged..

They are in Federal American Eagle boxes. This is how Ammoman represented it:

FEDERAL CARTRIDGE XMAE223
223 REMINGTON - SPEER
63 GRAIN - 3,000 FPS
We received a very small amount of contract overrun 223 ammunition using the new "Fusion" bonded jacket technology. The jacket and core are bonded. - Were this ammo in the premium commercial packaging, the price would be much higher. This contract overrun is packaged in the American Eagle red box.

FREE SHIPPING
Part Number #223REM-63-500, 1000
$269- 500 rounds.
$475- 1,000 rounds.

In addition, they include a photo that shows this is Federal ammunition product #XMAE223SP.

I ordered 1000 rounds, and it came in two cases of 500, 25 boxes each. The cases are blacked out, so I can't tell if they are Federal cases. If I had ordered a box or two, I could understand how possibly someone returned a box and they didn't check it and a different shell was included. In this instance, I received two case boxes, and there should have been no reason that a "stray" Remington round should have been in there.

They have not returned my email and I have been unable to get through by phone. I just sent a second email marked URGENT!, and if I do not hear back today I am going to dispute this with my credit card company.

I was surprised that these were not Federal cases, but I allow for that possibility since Federal and Speer are apparently under the same parent company. If anyone knows whether or not Federal branded shells would use Speer cases, I would appreciate knowing that as well. Thanks.

I am trying to allow for the possibility of some misunderstanding, but I have very little patience for this type of behavior.

Lou, they could be off all week. Below is a note I got six days ago. FWIW, I've ordered MANY times w/one problem he immediately corrected.

"We will only be shipping Today (June 27), Monday (June 30) and Tuesday.(July 1)

We will not be shipping for one full week, after Tuesday for the 4th. of July holiday.

So please plan ahead and get your orders in now and they will be shipped before the holiday."

Sigmund- Thanks on the heads up that they were probably closed today. I really tried not to overeact, and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when I can't get a call through and they don't answer the email, it's frustrating.

I've heard good things about them, and I've read the return policy which seems pretty reasonable. But I have a hard time imagining how Rem brass got in there.

I will give them until next week to respond since you gave me the heads up.

I have found ammoman to be honest and reliable. Nonetheless, I would call Federal as well.

Sorry you feel they are reloads.
Sorry you say you found a "remington" case.
447,000 sold so far and not one issue other than not enough to go around Smile
Send them back for a full refund.

If they are not advertised truthfully, then send them back.

I will probably send them back, but I was hoping to get some explanation of how Remington brass was in the box. I am waiting to hear from Federal, and hope to talk to someone on Monday.

Thus far I've ordered 1500 rounds of Speer 64 grain 223 Gold Dot from another vendor that does not deal in surplus ammunition. It all came loaded in cases with the "FC" (Federal Cartridge) headstamp. Now that ATK has acquired both companies, I suspect we'll see more of that in the future.

The Remington case, though, is another issue and bears looking into.

I've purchased at least three times from ammoman and I've been 100% satisfied with the product, the price and the speedy service. Smile

Sorry to hear you didn't experience the same.

FOR THE RECORD, I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH AMMOMAN! MEA CULPA!! There's no easy way for me to say this, but I just realized that the "odd" case in this box of shells is not a Remington case, but a Federal case.

I take full responsibility, but by way of explanation, my employee was looking at them and said it was a Remington case. Without using reading glasses, I just saw the "Rem", and the fact that it was different than the other cases marked "Speer".

I was just looking closer, while waiting for someone from Federal to return a call, and I realized it was stamped "FC", and the "Rem" is "223 Rem". Duh!!

I still find it odd that there was mixed brass, but I feel I owe a sincere apology to Ammoman for any negative implications I have made. I know I was careful not to make any absolute statements of fact, but my implication was pretty clear, and for this I am deeply sorry.

I feel about like whale crap right now, and wish I could stick my head in the sand, but I had to come clean.

I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH AMMOMAN!

Thanks for posting an update. It's always good to know how these things turn out, but everything sounds normal now.

I should have mentioned above that the Gold Dot 223 ammo I received was all packaged in Speer boxes; only the cases were headstamped "FC."

Nice to see someone come back and "clean up". Glad they worked out for you!

Might want to change the title of the thread to "Ammoman Rocks" or "Nothing here, move along"..... Wink

I thought about changing the title, but I thought if someone had read the thread earlier, they should still be able to find it. I wish I could make it go away, but I feel like I'm doing "penance" by letting everyone see my embarrassing error. Anyway, I actually offered to edit it or whatever 'ammoman' thought best.

You might just tack on something like "**updated, no problem after all**" to the the title. That way people will still see the original thread title and see the fact that there has been a update for the good.

+1

I've received several orders from Ammoman and never had a problem at all.
