My local gun store has 1,000 round cases of HSM brand .223 Remington...hollows I believe.
$376 or just under 38 cents per round. Is that about the going rate for .223 or is that higher or lower? What is the average going rate these days? **************** "Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make a good Use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it."--John Adams 26 April 1777 |

I could be wrong, but I think HSM stands for Hunting Shack Munitions which means they're reloads.

That's pretty good, I just picked up a case (500) of American Eagle for $200 and I was happy to pay it.
I long for the days of 9mm priced .223 ______________________________ Aspiring shootist! |

38 cents a round for reloads? Shooting is almost no fun anymore, and to think I use take federal xm193 and shoot it the into the mud just to see how high I could get it to go. now my hk 53 just sits there collecting dust.

Hunting shack sell NEW and Reloaded ammo. I have two 50 rd boxes I picked up at cabelas in lacey for $17.00 each and they say NEW right on the box and their reloaded was marked "RELOADED". the $17.00 was miss marked but they honored it any ways but would not let me buy the rest at the same price.

That is the lowest going price for new manufacture, brass .223. Lots of new stuff would be more expensive.
That is about the right price for reloads, for all that matter. Only steel cased .223 would be any cheaper. I shoot plenty of steel cased ammo. __________________________ Ohhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm! |
