I checked my Walmart today too, $10.34 a box. I told the guy behind the counter I had heard that they may have had them on clearance or something. He laughed at me, and said "They don't put bullets on clearance."

If he had simply took the price and left, yes. However, the manager checked it and still agreed to sell at that price. Not much else he could do. "I am a Soldier. I fight where I'm told and I win where I fight." GEN George S. Patton, Jr. |

Yup Stealing is stealing, and purchasing is purchasing. The seller agreed to a price and the buyer paid it. Happens all the time. Some people call it clearance, or sale or whatever. Why would you think its stealing? If he manipulated the price it would be, but that isn't the case here. |

It's stealing if you take advantage of a mismarked item and don't say anything about it. If an item is in their computer and marked incorrectly and you purchase that item without bringing it to anyones attention, then you have effectively stolen from them, knowingly! They may not be able to say anything about it, or bother with it, But Karma will catch up with you. -------------------------------------------------- M1A SUPER MATCH for Sale! jager1 - "I asked if he was a Ranger and he said no but he used to drive a truck for the National Guard." All of my local Walmarts have it at $10.34 also. Did you have to scan it to get the clearance price? The guy on the phone said $10.34 and I'm assuming he just looked at the price tag without scanning it.

The price is the price is the price, if the seller set it. The buyer is not responsible for figuring out why it is priced like that. Its not like he took a price tag off of something else and put it on the box.

Even if the price was mismarked, I believe it is the law that they have to sell it to you for what the price tag reads.
To the OP, enjoy your bullets, ammo deal of a lifetime! |

You DID read that the OP DID in fact bring the price to the attention of the manager? "I am a Soldier. I fight where I'm told and I win where I fight." GEN George S. Patton, Jr. |

Yeah, I was responding to the post above mine, asking Why you would think it would be stealing. He satisfied it by doing everything he could do to correct them, it's thier fault and problem now. I was just saying IF he hadn't done that, sorry for the confusion. -------------------------------------------------- M1A SUPER MATCH for Sale! jager1 - "I asked if he was a Ranger and he said no but he used to drive a truck for the National Guard." No they don't HAVE to. It could be a legit mistake ...many WILL (depending on the price diff) but they donot have to sell it to you legally. I totally disagree. It is certainly not stealing (in the criminal sense) unless you were the one who tampered with the price label. Whether there is a moral obligation is up to the individual. Karma ~ perhaps or perhaps not. Blackwater P226R * Equinox P229R/40 * P239/357sig * P229 40/357 Reverse TT GOTM * P220ST Nitron * P229R/9 * X-Five Tactical * P220 Super Match * P226 non rail 357/40 |

Actually the store is at fault for mismarking items. It's a form of false advertising. And if the store hires the caliber of people that are too ignorant or lazy to know what items are worth, this is not the fault of the customer.
Exactly. |

Wow I had no idea this thread would get so many posts.
For the people who think I stole the ammo know that I did indeed tell the worker and the manager that the price was too good to be true. However when the manager scanned the item and it was $1.50, he just looked at me and told me they were on clearance. The interesting thing is that the only reason why I asked about the ammo was because there was no price label underneath all the UMC 9mm ammo boxes. 226 9mm and hopefully more incoming! |

Don't misunderstand discochan, I never meant for it to sound like I was saying that you stole anything, I totally agree with you. Hell, I took off to the local WM here as soon as I read your post to get me some, and I don't even have a 9MM at the present. Someone just said something about "Why would you say it was stealing" and I responded to that in the sense that if you just walked in and grabbed all you could knowing it was not right and didn't investigate it further then you'd be in the wrong IMO. But you did none of the such.
Good on you, I'm glad someone gets some good luck from time to time. I agree with that as well, criminally speaking you would have done nothing wrong either way, but it just wouldn't set good on my conscience knowing I did that without checking on it. -------------------------------------------------- M1A SUPER MATCH for Sale! jager1 - "I asked if he was a Ranger and he said no but he used to drive a truck for the National Guard."
