Around 2 months ago, I ordered some .380 Golden Sabers from Cabelas that were backordered for 3 weeks, but got them in about 2. Not sure what the situation is right now as I am well stocked on .380 in both FMJ and HP.

Notified today they expect arrival 6/15, so maybe 4-5 days later in my hands if that is accurate. Ordered 5/3.

I ordered some bulk PMC 9mm mid April and ship date was supposed to be less than one week out. This date keeps getting delayed - the last e-mail I got said stock was to arrive by May 29th. I called to cancel last night and the guy said the date has slipped to June 10th.

Got an order for UMC in at Bass Pro last night at a much better price. Hope it actually gets shipped out without constant delays in ship date.

Woo-Hoo! My order for WWB's is finally being processed. It only took 6 weeks.

Still have a couple more orders on backorder though.

Not yet, just another email pushing back the expected date to June 10 from May 30, an early April order.

I just got a similar note for the 380 XTP I ordered on 20 April. I appreciate Cabelas keeping me informed.

And welcome to the forum, billyel.

I think Cabelas is starting to fee up. I had WWB's, Sellier & Bellot's and UMC's in 9's on backorder. The WWB's cam in on time, the B & B's came in early and I cancelled the UMC order because I got a .45 over the weekend.

Put an order in for .45's and the Magtechs hit right a way. Looks like they are out of stock already.

Ordered 1000 rnds SUPER-X 22MAG 40GR on 4/8/09, got backordered and backordered with latest shipping estimate of 5/29/09 having now come and gone and no further word from Cabela's.

For comparison, Sportsmansguide.com:
--ordered 1000 rnds 380 acp 95 gr on 2/24/09, latest expected ship date = 6/15/09 (we'll see);
--ordered 1000 rnds each of Fiocchi 9mm 124 gr fmj and .45 acp 230 gr on 3/9/09, and the .45 shipped 6/2/09 but the 9mm has an expected ship date of 9/18/09;

--but 1000 rnds of 9x18mak and .38 super auto and 500 rnds of 30-30 shipped within 2-3 weeks of their Feb. and Mar. 09 order dates.

I ordered 100 rounds Cor Bon DPX in .380 on 4/28/2009 and .40S&W on 5/11/2009. I received the .40S&W today. The .380 is still on back ordered. I have been getting regular status updates via email but did not not have to reply to keep the items on back order.

READ YOUR CABELAS MESSAGES CAREFULLY. Or they'll cancel your backorder.

Others had posted this advice before, but until today all my messages were updates slipping the shipping date. I would have missied this if SF members had not pointed it out:

If you wish to keep the item(s) on backorder or if you want to cancel or change the item(s), please call our toll-free order desk at 1-800-237-4444.

If a reply is not received within 10 days, the order will be automatically cancelled. Please note that backorders are processed immediately upon receipt of stock from our suppliers and therefore it is possible that the item(s) in question may ship prior to receiving your reply.

Ordered assorted 9mm in FMJ and JHP; mostly Winchester and Remington stuff. Got most of it after about a one month backorder. Still waiting for the .380 ammo ordered for my new Sig P238. Been 3 weeks to dated; due to come in mid-july.

If you wish to keep the item(s) on backorder or if you want to cancel or change the item(s), please call our toll-free order desk at 1-800-237-4444.

If I had not paid attention my order would have been cancelled. I called and complained that this was stupid to force me to call to keep it on order, and that they should just keep it on order unless I call and tell them to cancel it.

The first notice you get is not going to say you have to call them within 10 days. If the order is still backordered after 60 days then it tells you that you have to notify them of whether you wish to keep the order or not. I ran into this too and that's what the CS person told me.

Notified yesterday the order is pushed back to 6/30.

I actually found a case of the same Federal 5.56 in stock from Ammo 2 Go for a hair less, so I'm going to cancel my order with Cabelas. No free dry box, but not really free anyway.

I've had S&B .380 on order with Cabelas since April 20. Latest update projects August 10 to arrive from the supplier.
