A while back a number of members reported that you had handgun ammo on backorder from Cabela's. I was wondering if anyone has taken delivery yet or have been otherwise notified of status of their order?

I tried placing an order for backorderd ammo but I got restricted product message. Most likely that is because I live in Illinois. I may have to try calling them next time.

I ordered ammo and got delivered in 3-4 weeks. Worked well, no complaints.

I am waiting on 1200 rounds of PMC .45ACP. I think it was last month I ordered it.

I expected a long wait. They've sent me a couple email notifications (keep bumping the ETA back).

May 29 was the last estimate I got.

No problem here as long as they keep communicating. Cabela's do have first class customer service in my experience.

Thanks for the update! I think I will give them a call to see if I can make an arrangement for shipping to Illinois local Cabela's. Glad to hear they giving good customer service and so far it seems they are holding the line on their prices.

So far here is what I have ordered from Cabelas in the last 2 months.

My march order consisted of Lee 9mm dies, a total of 12 lbs of various powder, 2000 small pistol primers, 3000 large pistol primers and 3000 small rifle primers. I also had 2200 .22lr and 200 .32 S&W long on order. In April I ordered 5 lbs of H335, and last week I ordered 4lbs of titegroup, 1000 each of small pistol, small rifle and large pistol and 60 .327 mag fed hydrashocks.

Everything from March and April has been delivered except the small rifle primers, and I got my .327 mag rounds from last weeks order yesterday.

Same here with some 380 XTP I ordered a month or so back.

Grumpy, their www site may not accept an IL order because of the FOID issue. Your call should confirm that.

One thing you need to pay attention to is your emails from them. I got this about 3 weeks ago.

quote:
Dear Customer,

Unfortunately, your backordered merchandise listed below has yet to arrive from our supplier.

21-0757 CCI Per 1000 Primers SMALL RIFLE
Backorder-Tentative arrival to Cabelas 05/28/09

If you wish to keep the item(s) on backorder or if you want to cancel or change the item(s), please call our toll-free order desk at 1-800-237-4444.

If a reply is not received within 10 days, the order will be automatically cancelled.

If I had not paid attention my order would have been cancelled. I called and complained that this was stupid to force me to call to keep it on order, and that they should just keep it on order unless I call and tell them to cancel it.

Usually they've been pretty good about filling them, but I did order some (bulk) .308 ammo around the first of the year that stayed on "backorder" for several months. A few weeks ago Cabelas notified me that they wouldn't be able to provide it at all. At least they didn't charge me.

Placed an order with them on 4/14/09. 3 boxes of Magtech 40S&W and a bulk order of 500 more of the same. Got the 3 boxes, still waiting on the bulk order of 500.

I ordered at the end of april all 9mm many different types. So far no shipments and the backorder dates have been pushed back as far as June or longer.... Very sad indeed. But they do keep me updated. Always feels like a tease everytime I get mail I think it is finally getting shipped but it's usually just a date change.... Oh well maybe it's like the Costner movie... I agree. I just checked my latest message to be sure, and it did not say that. I got an update with a new projected delivery date.

Odd. This is what I got last week from Cabelas.

"If you wish for the item(s) to remain on backorder, you do not need to contact
us. Should you prefer not to wait, please contact our toll-free order desk at
1-800-237-4444 to cancel the backorder".

Maybe they received a bunch of complaints and changed their message.

I've gotten 3 backorders delivered in the last month. 2 were for 5.7 within a week of ordering, and 1 was for 62gr 5.56 (took about 4 weeks).

I received the same message - only call if you want to cancel.

I had nearly $900 on back ordered with Cabelas....then some more through Georgia Arms and CMP. I got them all....Cabelas only charged me like $14 shippin for my order and then shipped as things were available without raising or adding shipping. TOP NOTCH.

It took about 3-4 weeks to get everything....just be patient...you will get it.

I got the same message several times too before I got this one. That is kinda what pissed me off so much. I tried to explain to them that since I get an email from them almost weekly about my status and always telling me to call only if I want to cancel, I have begun to breeze over them. Then all the sudden this gets tossed in to the mix.

It seems like it would be easy to miss it since you are expecting the same old email you always get and so you don't read this one but just skim it since you expect it to say the same thing the last 10 have.

rec'd 500 rd of S&W .40 Winchester FMJ ordered on 3/8, shipped on 4/16 ~ they only moved the backorder date twice on this one

Still waiting on 1000 rd of 9mm Winchester FMJ also ordered on 3/8 (b/o date has moved at least 3 x's)

Also ordered some Winchester bonded PDX in both cal on the same date and got these in a few days.

I dont blame Cabela's, it seems everyone is pushing out backorders. I finally cancelled a few pending with Sportman's Guide.

Not a huge deal since I can get local if I am willing to pay retail.

Now .357 SIG I can't find anywhere reasonable

Ordered some 5.56 2 -3 weeks ago and no word yet. When I ordered it, the web site indicated it should be within the week. I was suspicious, but ordered and hoped for the best, though realistically within the month would be pretty good. Still waiting.
