Are there special rules for raffles? Forbidden?

There was a post recently where someone wanted to raffle off a gun to raise money for a charity. I donated but then the thread disappeared. The guy refunded my money, saying that the post had been deleted.

I'd like to know the rules so I don't make the same mistake at some point. I've thought about doing the same thing but hadn't seen it done so was hesitant.

Any info will be appreciated.

Sometimes things change for the persons involved. B27 held a Karma fundraiser that apparently didn't have much interest, so he suspended it.

The member with the raffle didn't elaborate as to why the raffle was suspended?

I believe that before doing anything like this it would be prudent to run it by Para or lbj first.
