This is so cool......I have got to get to the range and practice.

In all seriousness, thank you all for working so hard to put together such a wonderful class. I am humbled.

Greetings all,

Bruce and I have been communicating about the class, and we have several core elements we would like to see covered. The Saturday and Sunday class will be fraught with competition based skill building (and confidence building I might add) challenges.

That said, both Bruce and I would welcome any and all suggestions as to what you the students would like to see covered in addition to what we have planned.

Some of the things planned are: more shooting on the move, shooting and gun manipulation from odd positions that you might encounter at a match, moving into and out of shooting areas with speed and grace, non-holstered starting positions (where the gun is on a table or in a briefcase), Oodles O' reloads and some precision shooting.

Please feel free to add your own wishes to the list!

Randy

Ports? It seems that ports are still a staple in the stages I seem to see at matches.

Sooooooo What's in store for those of us in the Friday class? (He asks with a question in his voice.....) I hope we'll get to do some pseudo "tacticool" stuff too. How about some hints?

I think Friday was supposed to be more like a refresher/Practical Fundamentals kind of day. However, if enough of the crowd wants to, we can run through some CQB kinda stuff, and Bruce and Randy don't mind.

Friday is scheduled as a Skill Builder/Fundamentals day. However, the Skill Builder content can be as basic or advanced as the participant makes it. That being said, I am confident that Bruce, Jones and Randy will offer a full and worthwhile day of instruction.

Wondering if people would want to get together for a dinner one night...perhaps Sat.....and if so any preferences?

One class we went to the C Level restaurant (seafood, burgers, chicken, salads etc.) on Harbor Island...nice views of the bay but some thought it might have been a little too expensive.

There is a Mexican restaurant in Coronado...no view but ok food and can accomodate a larger group with advance notice.

I'm totally open to suggestions/thoughts/recommendations.

M T,

Here's a link to the Food Network's, Flavor Town website (Think Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives). Flavor Town USA (I've never been disappointed by any of the spots I been to. Just pop in the zip code.)

And one to the Studio Diner, close to the rangeStudio Diner

Just a suggestion.....

I love to eat, I plan on eating diner EVERY night! It's just a question of where? I am in for whatever the group can agree on, and if the group can't agree (when do groups ever really agree) I will most likely still be happy because I will be on vacation.

food is good (readily apparent after you meet me...). I'm up for anything as long as it is cooked at least a little.

I can do sushi for dummies but not too hard core.

Howdy! Mayer is right, we're drawing close to the end of the month and we still have a few slots for those of you on the roster.

On the 1st I'll open up registrations to those of you on our wait list and other latecomers if there are any slots left.

Mayer, have a good time traverlling and be safe!
If y'all would, please email DCM7 and me at bruce@grayguns.com, with a c/c to mayer so we can all keep up with your questions as we get closer to the big weekend.

I can't tell you all how much I have been looking forward to this class. Thank you!

Randy Lee, Jones and I have been plotting our strategy and planning the courses of fire for you. Our evolving vision for this class is to isolate each gun handling and shooting skill or task down to it's basic component, drill it dry, shoot it live and then integrate it into successive courses as we progress for reinforcement.

One example Randy and I discussed is the age-old problem of how to retrieve and present a pistol from various containers, such as a briefcase, drawer or valise. We'll work that problem in detail, then include that set of skills in live fire courses. That's who we plan to roll.

Let's hear from you: what tasks and tricks have you been confronted with at the matches lately?
Is there a shooting position, target, prop or obstacle that you need help with? Do barricades with ports eat you up? Steel give you fits? How about bobbers and swingers? Let me know and we'll work it in the program.

We're down to 30 days! I'm really excited and we can't wait to leave for San Diego. If you haven't already registered with DCM7, please do so now. I'm opening the enrollments on Thursday for the few remaining slots we might still have to offer. I appreciate the great response we've had for this class very, very much.

Our current instructor roster is:

Lisa Farrell
Bruce Gray
Jerry Jones
Randy Lee

That gives us an excellent student / instructor ratio which permits us to run multiple drills and stages simultaneously while keeping us n track as we progress through the course.

More to come. Now, let us know what we can do to help you prepare? Thanks!

-Bruce

I will be the first to admit that I'm not up on who's who in competitive shooting. So, I didn't know who Lisa Farrell was. I did a little googling around and look what popped up. (about halfway down is a nice pic...)

instructor to the stars

Thank God you didn't say "listed by weight".

You know how over-sensitive Randy can be.

Hey, speaking of other trim, tiny people on that list, Lisa was here this weekend to help Flork pack his immense collection of Flork-sized stuff (his leather couch alone weighs 11,000 pounds) and move down to SLO. It was great to see her and I look forward to her assistance in San Diego.
