I received my confirmation in the mail yesterday for Pistol IV and V. Four days, 2,400 hundred rounds minimum, oh and bring a flashlight for low light! Holy Rock and Roll Batman. I'm excited aboout this class. I've heard nothing but good about John Benner and TDI. He was up to do a duty defensive knife class for our county SD earlier this year. Lots of good reports.

Dude, you are going to LOVE Handgun 4 and 5! It's a such a great class - Live Fire Houses, Force-on-Force scenarios, Tactics, Skills, and more. If I can break free from work, I'll definitely be back down to shoot it again. So much fun and a really amazing skill builder.

Thanks for the information. I've never been in a shoot house before so that will be a real eye opener. I'm looking forward to the low light section as well.
I love to train and I've learned something new every time I go to a class. I'm really looking forward to this.

Best of luck, you'll enjoy. John Benner, David Bowie and gang are among the best in Ohio. I'm fortunate, I work less than 30-minutes away from their location in West Union, assuming you are talking about Tactical Defense Institute. Have fun.

Excellent !!

Expect the best and you will still be surprised when your expectations are exceeded!

John and his crew do an outstanding job; A great learning opportunity from an excellent staff. The Live-Fire Houses and the Jungle Lane are unforgettable.

Enjoy

That's why I'm headed there, everyone I've spoken with about TDI training has heaped praise on them. I know I'm going to learn a lot. Standerson promised me dinner on the way down Wink This should be a blast.

I'm booked at the Comfort Inn in Seaman, OH. Suggestions on places to eat?

Hey Brad -

There is a diner just about a block from the Comfort Inn that has great food. Open for breakfast, will pack you a lunch (no lunch served on the grounds - TDI has a reefer for use) and have decent dinners.

There are also several places in West Union (you will go through WU on your way to TDI from Seaman.) Several fast food places if that fits your fancy, and a great authentic Mexican Food Restaurant.

The Comfort Inn also serves a free continental breakfast, complete with waffles, if that works for you.

And they are called? Sounds good.

I planned on grabbing the "free" breakfast at the motel, I always include that in the price when I'm making reservations. 'Aful's be good Smile

I don't eat food in a sack so I'm looking for local food. I figure that a group from the class will go out together for dinner and the heads up on them making a lunch to take is helpful. The Mexican place sounds interesting but I'm jaded, grew up in Tucson. I also understand it's a dry county so I'll be bringing a cooler of tasty ale treats to enjoy in the evening. Now I just need to find where I can enjoy a seegar. Dang Ohio anti smoking laws make watering holes a non option.

I do not recall the name of the diner - but you will probably see it easily.

It is the shiny aluminum variety and is located East of the motel immediately adjacent to a pizza shop (I did not try the pizza place).

The rooms also have a small reefer in them, so keeping things cool (water, wine, or ale) should be easily accomplished. I used an inexpensive hot/cold bag for water in my trunk while at TDI. It worked great.

John Benner is a cigar aficionado also, however you may know that already from the prior training.

And, if you are coming down I-75, Troy, OH is right there, exits # 73 and #74. If your schedule permits and you have the inclination, give me a shout and we can have a sandwich, coffee, etc. I would enjoy meeting you.

Richard

That's helpful. I could probably bring a cooler and make up my own lunch then.

I've not trained with him before but I know from pictures that he likes cigars. I'll bring along an adequate supply. Steve Fisher of Michigan Defensive Firearms Institute is best bribed before a class starts with a decent cigar. He will then only criticize your shooting if it's done with a Glock. For Glocks there is no redemption Smile

Let's try to set that up. Right now, I'm planning on having dinner on the way down with Standerson. I'll be headed home on Sunday, maybe we can make it work on the way back up. It would be a pleasure to meet you.

Sounds great. I also have some decent directions and a few single page maps if you could use them.

I'll send you a e-mail to your public account - we can then work things out.

Richard

When are you having dinner with Standerson? I'm about 10 minutes away from him and would love to tag along if no one objects. I got a humidor full of CAO and Rocky Patel cigars and would love to have a cigar with The Brad. (and Standerson too if he smokes.)

Okay - I can see what is happening here Roll Eyes

If I get to have dinner with Brad in Dayton, it will be under the conditions of:

A. Thanx, Richard - but we are not sure we need you!

Or, B: Okay, I'll buy Dinner. Big Grin

So, I will - it will be worth that much to spend some time with Brad (and the others).

Brad,

Congrats. I have taken that class and it is 4 days of heaven. John has a great crew and you will become a better shooter in all kinds of situations. I was hoping to get there this year, as I missed last year, but not sure I will be able to make it.

FWIW, I consider the money I have spent at TDI to be some of the best money I have ever spent related to shooting.

Enjoy!

Crescendo, I owe you an e-mail. It's on my to-do list at work. I'm short my store manager this week and busier than a cat covering crap in a box of marbles. Smile

P-220, that would be cool if you could make the October class. I keep getting these rave reviews and I'm fired up about going. My 2007 multi day training was a disappointment so I'm hoping this will make up for it.
