Our first 2019 training class at one of our home ranges in Paducah, Kentucky has been scheduled! Our flagship Practical Fundamentals class on April 13 & 14.

This is not a basic class. At minimum, students should have taken a basic handgun safety course and be confident with their firearm and gear. We expect students to have experience shooting on a line in a safe manner, including loading, reloading and drawing/shooting from the holster. Shooters with IDPA, USPSA, NRA Action Pistol, 3-Gun, law enforcement and military experience meet the program prerequisites.

Have you taken Practical Fundamentals before? Students who have taken this class multiple times state they get more and more out of the class each time they take it.

Wondering about the OpSpec Training experience? READ OUR CLASS TESTIMONIALS (These student testimonials are specific to the Practical Fundamentals program.)

Practical Fundamentals
Using a building-block approach, Practical Fundamentals encourages students to focus on the process of running the gun, tamping down the emotional desire to see results on the target. By using a variety of dry fire and live fire exercises, students are brought through the fundamentals of marksmanship with a focus on trigger control to help the shooter make fast hits on small targets, on demand.

Instructors*: Jerry Jones

When: April 13 & 14, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day

Class size: Limited to 24 students, with a minimum of 12 students.

Tuition: $450, with a $225 deposit

Range Fees: $40, to be paid in cash at orientation on the morning of April 13.

Local Host: Jerry Jones

Ammunition: Round count for Practical Fundamentals will be approximately 750 - 850 rounds

Where to Stay
Our host hotel is the La Quinta Inn & Suites, located at 3960 Coleman Crossing Circle in Paducah. The hotel offers a 15% discount to students taking a class with us. To receive the discount, please call the hotel direct at (270) 443-4800 and mention you are taking a class with OpSpec Training. Ensure you book early, as discounted room availability may be limited.

The property was built in 2015 and is located less than 10 minutes from the range. Hotel amenities include free high-speed Internet access, free “Bright Side” breakfast, an indoor pool and spa. Trip Advisor reviews are positive, but do note La Quinta does welcome pets to their hotels.

Food at Lunch Break
To ensure you get the most “bang for your buck” we try to keep lunch breaks as short as possible. If you have the ability to bring your lunch, we suggest you do so. If you need to run out and get a quick meal, there are options in the area. Fast food restaurants (McDonald’s, Subway, KFC, Wendy’s) are located nearby.

Evil exists. You can not negotiate with, bribe or placate evil. You're not going to be able to have it sit down with Dr. Phil for an anger management session either.
