Several people have asked for a course that incorporates drills that can't be done on the typical square range. I have been preparing a class for several months that meets these requirements. Our new range in Woodbury is set up so we can shoot 270 degrees. I will run a class to include moving and shooting in the 360 degree environment. It will include moving, reaction, stationary and no shoot targets. More time moving than standing still. This being said you should have the shooting basics down fairly well before class. We will only spend a short time on drawing, reloads and malfunctions before we start moving and adding stress to the drills. The class will be Saturday Dec 5th from 1-10pm. The cost will be $100 if paid before Dec 1st $125 after. Bring your flashlights we will shoot well into dark so you can practice your low light skills.
This course is not approved buy the NRA ;-) Contact me directly for more info. guninstructor2@bellsouth.net _________________ Sig Master Firearms Trainer Utah CCW Instructor GA State Certified Instructor NRA Sr. Training Counselor NRA LEAD Instructor Refuse To Be A Victim Regional Counselor Surefire Low Light Instructor Tactical Firearms Instructor www.centerfiretraining.com |

A couple of questions if I may? You're talking a pistol class, right? What are the ammo requirements? Lastly, where's Woodbury?
Definately interested. |

Excellent,
I have put on 6 practice events this year with exactly that... shooting and moving. I'm glad to hear that others are starting to get things going. How many shooters do you plan on having? How many safety officers? I had 61 shooters on my last run (Sunday, October 11, 2009) and 8 Safety Officers (mix of NRA and IDPA/USPSA SO). Have you ever shot IDPA? I say this as the basic rules for IDPA/USPSA are great to follow. They do this more than anyone for these kind of shoots. Basics are range commands, 180 rule, finger and use of cold range. Start easy and build on the basics. KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid. If you want any help or have questions I'm more than willing to share what I have learned from doing these. Young, this is more of a training class than practice. I will limit the class to 16 max.
I have shot in over 150 different matches like IDPA & USPSA and I am a certified Cheif RSO in NRA and USPSA. I have been running matches and training courses for about 10 years. Thanks for the offer if I have any questions I contact you. Scott,
Not a problem. I figured you were more qualified... more than I am (more experience and better background). I'm glad to see others taking people to the next step - shooting on the move. We hold practice very high but where can one really practice with their conceal carry gear? A regular range is not designed nor would they let a regular guy practice drawing and shooting on the move. IDPA and USPSA are good but that is a bit more than the regular shooter wants to go to - most believe they are not good enough since they haven't "practiced." My shoot covered just practice for those that want it to guided step by step class by a Grand Master from IDPA/USPSA all for $25. All my best to you, Young "Shoot Safetly, Shoot Often and Share Your Sport." Jim Scoutten, Shooting USA NRA Life Member and NRA Certified Instructor, Pistol |
