+P and +P+ self defense ammo in your daily carry gun ( poll)
I only carry 40 so no.

If I want it... I need it !

I see no need for it. In my issued 9mm, I carry issued standard pressure rounds. My P365 also runs standard pressure because it is almost always a backup to a bigger gun.

My P229 and P320 are in .40 and .45 respectively, and as such... They don't need any +P designation to work well.

Occasionally in 9mm but I don’t get wrapped around the axel about it.

plus p in both my G26/G19 and S&W 5-shot. 124gr and 135gr gold dots respectively.

I use 124gr HST
In testing, +P 124gr HST did not show an advantage over standard velocity.

I’m always +p

The SIG is carried in either .40 or 357 SIG, so no.
124 and 147 +P in the M&P 2.0 9mm
When the 1911 gets here, probably 230 +P HSTs, or Underwood in the same loading.

For those that carry 9mm off duty we stock Ranger 147gr and 127gr +P+.

Most people carry the 147gr. I’m the only one that uses the +P+ and only in my Staccato P and will use it in my C2 when it gets here.

Not minority enough!

+P in all carry guns; 38 Spl 9mm and 45 ACP.
When carrying a 357 Sig or 40 cal, all hot premium ammo from Underwood or Buffalo Bore.

The answer to your question is totally dependent on what cartridge we are talking about

Many cartridges do not have any +P or +P+ ammunition available for them. Thee is even one cartridge that only has +P. For the 38 SUPER +P is all that exists

When carrying my old 45ACP P220, issued ammunition was +P, I have no doubt that the reason I walked away from an incident several years back was because the 45ACP+P Hydrashok had the necessary power to incapacitate a felon even after penetrating a car windshield. So I continue with that ammunition choice in my personal life

My old 357 Magnum BUG does not carry +P and even of such ammunition existed, I would not use it.

I do not believe in +P for the 9MM Parabellum cartridge, but I often carry the 356TSW cartridge which has no +P

If you narrowed the POLL to a single cartridge you would probably get a better read on the community

Another Federal 9 mm 115gr +P+ BPLE fan for my nines. Old school LEA load - lots of planted perps over 25 plus years. My .40 S&W and .45ACP's use standard velocity.

FWIW, the recoil with 9 mm +P+ in my Glocks and P320 is roughly the same as a .40. Doesn't bother me at all, since I've been using .40 since 1996.

Since was mentioned I said I didn’t generally care. Now that I think about it in .38 Special I always use +P stuff.

While not all of my 9mm carry pistols are loaded with +P, the majority of them have +P in them.

^ This. Very effective round. Good enough for police then. Good enough for me now.

Although I prefer Federal HST and Winchester Ranger ammunition, Federal's 9BPLE 115gr +p+ is a formidable competitor. The round is inexpensive for defensive ammunition and has real-world results that are impressive (interestingly enough, it usually sucks in gel tests).

Another 9BPLE +P+ user. Also use GD 124 +P and Hydrashok 124 Tactical +P+.

Don’t shoot a ton of 9BPLE, but it does run well in everything. Practice with NATO 124 FMJ as it has a similar feel.

I used 124+P Gold Dot or HST for many years but due to surgeries and disabilities I recently switched to standard pressure 147 HST for the softer felt recoil.

I believe this is the load used originally by the ISP back in the day. I have in my 2 home defense 9mm pistols. Sig 320 and P229R.

+P in my 9mm Glocks & polymer framed HKs. I still have some CorBon 115gr Hollowpoints. Probably antiquated by today's standards. Even worse, I still have some old Silver Tips. I plan to go with Gold Dot 124gr +P when I make my next ammo purchase.

No +P in any of my alloy framed guns. SIGs, or Dan Wesson Vigil Commander.

.45ACP I normally stick to standard pressure 230gr Hollow Points of various types.

I do believe you are correct for the ISP.
