Yes, but the guns in question are radically different. The member in question was sticking a striker fired gun into a holster not for that gun; what's being talked about here is a gun with a manual safety AND a grip safety.

Apples to pears.

The Hattori Hanzō 服部韓蔵 double stack 1911 9MM least common denominator, bean-counter-and-affirmative-action-HR-department-approved com-on modern 9MM ammo is as good as all, semi-custom-wecanmakeasmanyasyouneed manufacturer-sourced red-dotted hand-held DeathStar implements are now available.

"fits" doesn't take into consideration safety factors that the manufacturer has to consider. The negative publicity alone before the facts are known could cause financial ruin (firearm or holster manufacturer). In this litigious society this MIGHT get a company sued even when it's the fault of the user.

"The community long ago figured out that the HK45 fits the P30L ALS, the HK45C fits the P30L ALS, and the VP9 (at least with light) fits the Glock 21 ALS. I have tried these myself and wouldn't think twice about carrying them on duty that way."

Actually kind of part of my argument. The ALS WML holsters are glorified gun buckets to an extent. If the gun doesn't fit, don't force it.

I'm more interested in that grip than the holster...

That's the new style grip they plan on changing to. It's also in prototype stages. I'm hoping my Staccato P which is in production comes later rather than sooner and that it has the new grip. Mine was ordered on 6/21 and they said minimum 12 week wait.

Some people act as if this is a bunch of hayseeds looking for a equipment solution to buy skill.

When you couple that with how/why the 1911 fell out of favor with JSOC (which American law enforcement at that level often emulate), this is not a bad choice.

The telling thing in this article is the addition of the RDS. You'll see over the next bit that the USSS CAT teams, BORTAC, SOG, HRT, etc are all running dots on their pistols now. It is also interesting that the choice wasn't an RMR. Even though we constantly are bombarded with how anything but the RMR is junk. Guess they aren't looking to rack the slide 100 times on a steel table and whatnot.

For CBP, including Border Patrol and Customs, the dot optics are going agency wide. CBP just adopted the Glock 47 mos agency wide and are working on adding severaldot optics to the authorized equipment list. Word is, the Deltapoing Pro, RMR and Docter are going to be at the top of the list.

The Gen5 G19MOS will be the basic issue for CBP including ISBP, the 47 MOS will be an optional alternative. Just how RDS will be handled (Issues vs personal purchase from an authorized list) is still being determined but Dots are coming. They have tested several optics but so would be surprised if the Doctor is an option. The surprise choice, in addition to the usual suspects, is likely to be the Holosun 407c.

Regardless USMS already allows RDS on Glocks, USSS has adopted the same MOS Glocks as CBP so the implication is RDS are coming. FBI SWAT /HRT are looking at them. Look for ICE to add an optional P320 variant with optics soon as well.

The future is now.

I was once at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana for some ARMY training.

Pretty sure that makes me an honorary member of this team of Ninjas.

When should I expect my pistol and a resupply of throwing stars to arrive?

What a great series....I wish they would re-run the whole series. I started watching when it was half way through season 2 and I was riveted to every episode.

I totally forgot to see what the Marshals were carrying this morning. We were all using rifles anyway.

I heard from a good source that the officers were armed with AR-15s at the time of the OIS. Can't say that I'd blame them to go with rifles if they had a good belief this scumbag was going to take the "hard way" out. Wink

I know there are US Marshals guarding one of the buildings I used to go too regularly but they are older guys and I know I've never seen STI 2011's(or any 1911) on them.

I'll have to ask next time I go post this viral craziness.

And that says more than anything about the relative advantages of having one pistol rather than another.

I thought the 2011s were limited to the SOG guys. I know the FBI limited 1911s to HRT and field office SWAT guys.

So, just to clarify. VERY, VERY FEW deputies will be issued or see the 2011 within the USMS. I'd wager less than 50. SOG is a full time SWAT team, that does many team oriented SWAT stuff. Some of the recent Marshal related stuff that has been in the news weren't SOG related.

Inside the Marshal's you have the deputies, and then you have the ones assigned to court house security. They are the guys you see in the gray pants and blue blazers at the federal court houses. Most deputies and court security deputies will be armed with the G19. You'll see a fraction of those with an RMR mounted to the gun by personal purchase. Then you have a teeny, tiny fraction of those who are assigned to SOG.

Unless SOG deploys to your area for an event, you have a greater chance of seeing an honest politician than you do a deputy marshal with a 2011.

The guys is blue blazers and grey pants are actually employed by Walden Security and they are contractors who are deputized special deputies.
