Last year I attended a Police Chiefs Association convention. I am a member, but not as LE, rather as an associate member. They held a silent auction and I bid and won my choice of a Glock. To make a long story short, the vendor offering the prize was a distributor, not a Glock employee. He drug his heals for almost a year and finally refused my winning letter saying the Glock was for LE only. This was never mentioned during the bid, but either way I was disappointed.

Normally when you don't get what you pay for, you ask for your money back. This money was donated to charity so I was not going to do so. That is some really bad Karma IMO. So this year I went back and the Executive Director mentioned it to me. I told her that I never received the pistol and was not going to at this point. She was more than upset. She approached the Distributor and asked them about it and she got the same response. As a result the Sig rep heard about it and approached me offering me my choice of a standard 239. Being LE, it came with three mags and night sights. I chose the 9mm version. This guy had no dog in the fight other than saying that was embarresing for all of the vendors and he hoped I would accept their apologies with the pistol. I was so grateful that someone actually cared the pistol was just a bonus. So for $325 I ended up with a new P239 with the extra mags and night sights.

I thought I would share the story. Sometimes the good stuff does not get mentioned and it meant a lot to me.

Oh, I also got a NIB Benchmade 2550 Auto for $75 in the auction. That one I put back since I can not carry it legally.

Thanks for sharing your story. Wow! Sig really came through.
All to often we hear negative stories, but rarely something this positive. Way to go Sig!

Thanks for sharing this story with us and good for Sig Sauer. It is an example of a company doing the right thing even they were under no obligation to do so.

I always appreciate hearing stories like this, it renews my faith in people.

Long Live The P-220

That is great news. Glad to hear and BTW, I would take a P239 over any Glock on any day.

That's cool as hell of that guy to do that. If I were in charge at that place the Glock vender would not be allowed back after a stunt like that. He wouldn't have lost that much money by giving you the pistol, he was just being greedy, IMHO. In the end you did a good thing and karma made it right with a new 239... Cool

AMEN to that. The 239 is not only a great pistol but that one will always be something special now.

I have to wonder what GLOCK has to think of of one of their distributor's stiffing someone in a charity auction. Did Glock have a dog in this fight? Did they tell the distributor LEO only? Was Glock ever notified about what had happened?

I would not be at all surprised that the distributor made this decision based a Glock and/or insurance company restriction. The distributor might get his stock from Glock on a LEO only contract.

The good news is you got a much better pistol.

Awesome story!

It is nice to hear a positive Sig Sauer story....it seems like most often bad news travels faster and further than good news. I think a lot of times good Sig experiences fly by under the radar. Prowen, thanks for posting up your experience. Smile

Either way, I'd let Glock know about what transpired. Their distributor's actions directly reflect on the company's reputation.

Good work by SIG. It's nice to see there are people there who care about customer service and the organization's reputation.

I could not agree more and that was kind of my point. I think I would not be happy about this if I was in Glock management.
