I like 1911's. I shoot them better than all my polymer guns. However that said I don't see the need for a $3500 gun. Now you can want one but as many have said a $1500 Dan Wesson is damn nice.

Now if we are talking about just having a collector's piece well that is a different story. However if we are talking about spending that much money because you want to spend time in the "X" ring my $1700 CZ TSO will match any 1911 out there. As will an Accu Shadow.

So if you have the money and really want the gun for personal reasons, BUY IT! But in my opinion it is not worth the money much like the Sig semi version of the MP5 which I love but is way over priced again IMO.
