Why? Because all of you guys keep on talking on how awesome this gun is! I don't want anything brand new, but I'd like to get my hands on a Grade 1 228 that Dan's had awhile ago. I saw it that day, hem and hawed, and it was too late. Still kicking myself.

Tell me again why this gun is so awesome?

I'm in exactly the same boat. Hell, the 228 doesn't even fit me all that well. I guess we'll see what happens when TGS gets the next round of Swiss police surplus 228s in.

Be patient and look around. I got mine years ago when everyone thought the 228 was gone forever. These aren't exactly hens teeth.

And don't settle for an abused one. The Gander Mountain in Harrisburg, PA had one that looked like it had be used as a boat anchor during the day and kept in the toilet at night. They wanted $749 for it. I heard a clerk tell a customer that it would sell at that price because it wasn't made anymore. It sat until they lowered it by about $200 I think.

I have 2. One is a bit worn, finish wise, but accurate and reliable. I just found a pristine 1997 specimen K Kote box and all for $600. It took 2 years of searching.

TGS has more Swiss P228s on the way. Sign up for notification and get one when they get it. Hawk Dan's site as well. Don't settle for less!

I would wait to order one from TGS. I bought one from Dan's and apperently Grade 1 means somthing different to him than it does to me. I have always had good luck with TGS.

My Grade 1 from Dan's is great. Dan is top notch and I'm sure he'd make if right if you are unsatisfied.

Nice one's come around every now and then, I don't think that they're going to disappear anytime soon. And around $600, is a good price for a mint one with all paperwork, box, and target. Thats what I paid, and others are reporting this quality for the same price range as well. You don't need to jump, but get a good one when it comes available. To find out what is special about them just get one and shoot it, you'll find out soon enough. It's probably one of the few Sig's that I'll keep around because of how good it is IMO.

I guess opinions vary about Dan. This is what I got from him. He did say I could send it back at my expense. Rusty screws worn through Houge grip panel gouges across the slide serations and finish missing on the top rear of the slide and it was rusting. I sent it to CCR to be refinished and Brad seemed to agree with my opinion. I ended up touching up the finish on the slide myself before I sent it to CCR to stop the rusting.

Well, Signess, but opinions vary as to whether that's a problem or an exalted state of conciousness. My bank account thinks it's a problem. I'm convinced it's an exalted state of conciousness.

Sorry for the thread drift!!

I have two 228's one factory nickel and the other a mutant that I had sent in to Sig for some work. The mutant is the most accurate gun I have hands down. Its a West German p228 so accurate it scares me. Be patient young Skywalker, you'll find yours...they have a way of finding their handlers.. Cool

New 228

A little steep but hey...if you want it that bad Wink

Anarion, I just picked up a P6 and was wondering what it would look like with a reverse two tone look!! Thanks for the post! What was the finish called that you got for the frame? Did you get the cera-hide?

Thanks,

I'm not sure, but I think I saw (or heard or read or maybe it just came to me in a dream)that Top Gun Supply will be getting in some more of the Swiss Police trades. I don't know which grades or when, but something worth considering.

And rest assured when your desire for a P228 has been met, you will be a very happy man. The membership here is always going on about how great the P228 is because, well the P228 is really great. Smile
