Which slide do you think is better, the stamped or the machined one?
Why?

Buy a used German gun and all you have to worry about buying ammo, then cleaning afterwards.

Some will say the stamped steel guns are better and someone will say milled ones are. I personally don't really care. A Sig is a Sig is a Sig...

I have both and both shoot pretty much the same.

Get one of each and you'll be safe for either a moon phase, planet alignment changes, or your own mental state that makes you shoot one better than the other Wink

I'm not paranoid about safety, I'm passionate about it!!

The low pressure 45 ACP and 9mm do not need the milled slide and the folded/welded works just fine and with it the gun is a little lighter in weight. That's a benefit if you plan to carry it around with you.

Weight is the only functional difference I'm aware of.

I've had my folded slide gun for 15 years and it hasn't had the first failure yet.

Put me down for stamped. I have had problems with milled and none with stamped.

Been shooting my stamped 220 slide for 19 years now. Never a problem. Of course now it's been hard chromed and sent back to Sig for a action enhancement. Wouldn't sell it for....I don't know what.

My folded P226 late 80's model shoots great. I might consider making a post if it ever has a glitch beyond a dirty magazine problem.

I can't explain it, but I prefer the stamped slide Sigs.

All of my Sigs except for one have milled slides. None of them have ever experienced any failures.

The stamped slide Sig I have does feel noticibly lighter and balance well but my 229 40S&W converted to 9mm (Barsto conv bbl) while retaining the heavier beefy 40S&W milled slide is one most accurate and softest shooting 9mm pistols I have ever encountered.

I have to agree with the Stickman. I own both I like the top heavier feel of the slide on the the milled and shot them more accurately than my stamped ones. My wife & I both feel that there is more of a muzzle flip with the stamped slides as well.
