Still resurrecting my Photobusket account and couldn't remember if I posted this before, so here it is {again?}, a little test I did to see what numb hands would do in shooting. I need to do it again for a number of reasons, but it was an interesting "data point" if you could call it that.

I used a Ruger MKII .22 for an easy-shooting SA gun, and a SIG P250 for a long trigger pull 9mm that might put more emphasis on degradation of trigger control.

Control {such as it was, don't judge me... } was 5 shots, the rest, 7 shot groups. {I was shooting this as part of my personal testing as to carry gun options}. Basically, ambient temp was 30 degrees F, water was just at 33. I stripped to the waist, stood around for a while to get chilly and my blood to my core, then I dunked my hands in the water for 15 seconds for each shot string. This was long enough, stripped to the waist to numb them up fast. Also, it was cumulative, as I didn't warm up between shot strings. The far right targets are the controls, shot while cold, but clothed, before the water test.

What doesn't show is the concentration. No question it required really bearing down to shoot.

You don't mention target distance....Of course, that cold is probably still affecting your cognitive abilities! Wink

Regardless, you win the 'Hard-Core Award' for the internet, Sir! Cool

Sorry.

I believe it was 15 meters.

LOL.

Merely punching paper gets boring so we do tend to slip into the esoteric every now and then, but this thing was interesting in that it certainly exposed the challenges presented by a long DAO trigger pull {a pull under good circumstances I like very, very much}. The one-handed group at the end of the test {cumulative numbing} showed pretty severe degradation, but even the mere .22 with crisp SA pull shows a wild flyer.

Maybe not scientific but it all adds up to my own understanding of my limitations. I'd be curious to run a similar test with my 320. I really do not like staplegun triggers but this one after the "Voluntary Upgrade" is good, tho I am noticing just a hunt of slap as I get more experience with it in cold weather.
