Flork's Lubrication Recommendation
I really haven't used Gunzilla at all, but as far as I'm concerned, as long as you have a good quality, high viscosity(higher than water) "Gun Grade" oil, you should be just fine. If you're using oil only, you're gonna have to reapply the lubrication more frequently, but it will certainly do better than nothing at all.

Recently I've been using Lubriplate for grease and Prolix for oil.

It would seem this isn't going to happen but I still would like to see something about lubing the internal parts of my p220. Are there any sites that show with pictures anything about lubing the internals?

Thanks

Funny you should ask.

I just took the pics yesterday and am planning to get them up along with the instructions for how I lube the Sigs when I assemble them.

I've been following this thread and look forward to learning about lubing internals. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

Part 2 is up. Sorry for the crummy pics, my good camera is broken so I'm stuck with one that doesn't seem to like me.

My 2 cents: Gunzilla is GARBAGE. All hype. I tried some and it would NOT remove the carbon from cylinder flutes even when using a copper brush!! I asked for my money back and they never replied to my e-mails. Save your money.

Quick question...

I stopped by Napa today and bought a big ass tube of Lubriplate 105. However, it is not the outboard motor/marine version. It is "motor assembly" grease. Is there a difference??

It sounds like it's just different packaging for marketing purposes. It's still the 105, so you should be good to go.

The PN# on the one we have here in the shop is: L0034-092

You're right... this stuff is packaged exclusively for napa stores. It is 105, but in a different tube.

For the rails and slide I use Shooter's Choice all weather grease, and for oil I've had great luck with Weaponshield, and the pen applicator in the small hard-to-reach areas... Big Grin

I'm very satisfied with both Weaponshield CLP (general cleaning) and Grease (rails and internals) on my Sigs, and they smell like Cinnabons hehe

Hey Flork could you do one of these for wheel guns I have always wondered about lube of them.

Shooter Choice is what I have been using too for grease. I use M-Pro 7 for oil.

I've thought about it. I'll see what I can come up with.

I am new to SIG's (P226 is on the way...) so this is an interesting post!

On my other guns, I have used Weaponshield CLP, so I will probably try George's WS Grease for the rails, and use CLP for the rest.

I am new to Nitron though and the anodized alloy frame. On my AR, WS CLP takes off a little bit of the anodized coating at first use.

* Will it do the same to the Sig's alloy frame coating?
* How will Weaponshield and the Nitron on the slide get along?
* Solvents- I really like WS CLP, but are there better solvents for a SIG?

Thanks!

Nitron is a completely different coating than anodizing. When Nitron is rubbed on enough and starts to wear a bit, it will get shiny in some spots, but will just fade to white without the color changes.

Weaponshield will work fine for Nitron, however I would definitely recommend using Grease between the Nitron finished slide and the alloy frame. Nitron is a good finish, but can be abrasive, if you don't have enough lube between the parts, you're going to accelerate wear on your frame.

Personally, I've never used any solvent on my Sigs when cleaning them.....My secret is warm soapy water and a tooth brush. After completely stripping the gun, I just go to town with the tooth brush and clean it all out. For cleaning the barrel, I use the Ultrasonic cleaner with the Brownell's fluid for the barrel. Here's a link for the fluid we use. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx...5_ULTRASONIC_CLEANER
