Do 9mm 1911s use a different sight height? Login/Join

I want to replace the sights on a 9mm commander and can't find the answer to my question easily. It has novak cuts, but I see no specification for slide length (officer, commander, gov't) or caliber.

Has anyone done this and what was your experience?

Yes. 9mm will shoot high compared to .45. And given that sights are the same height, a commander will shoot higher than a government because you need to raise the muzzle more to align the sights.

Government .175"
Commander .165"
Officers .155"
