Recently picked up a Springfield range officer elite operator in 9mm.

What a sweet shooter. For anyone who hasn't tried an all steel 1911 chambered for 9mm it's very enjoyable. I can't describe the recoil impulse but it's unlike anything else I've tried.

I know springfield is on a lot of peoples Shit lists but this model comes with a lot of premium features for a good price.

Upgraded Black T finish, nice fibre optic front sight, 4 mags and a decent little range bag and the usual cheap plastic range and mag holsters come standard.

I paid just shy of 1100 in NYS and I'm very happy with it.

Who else has a 9mm 1911 or recommendations for quality models that are not made by springfield?

I have two R.O's, 9mm and .45. The 9mm is a really fun pistol, accurate and eats whatever I feed it. Both shoot very well, although the .45 frame did take considerable break in. Tightly fitted, but a bit uneven in slide to frame fit. For $699, it'a shooter, just required some love.

I currently have 2 government 9mm 1911's. I have an original series 70 Colt Mark IV with the collet bushing and love it. I recently bought a Colt Competition 9mm in stainless. The Competition is very impressive. The barrel to bushing fit as well as the slide to frame fit is as tight as my Wilson Combat. It's a great shooter and for everything that comes on it, a deal at $865. Trigger is crisp but a touch on the heavy side at around 5lbs. But it's accurate and a lot of fun.

I also have a RO Elite in 9mm, and as of this Friday have 2200 rounds thru it with zero problems. It is a very sweet shooter with practically zero recoil. A real pleasure to shoot, I know you will really enjoy it.

I just got my Dan Wesson "LASD"version Specialist in 9mm last week. It came with five mags so that was nice.
Unfortunately we are forecast to get a huge dump of snow over my days off this week so it may be awhile till I can get to the range.

My GF got one a RO Elite 9mm about a year ago. It has been such a great shooter, that I picked one up last fall. The quality of fit and finish on both our guns is as good as the accuracy. They are nicely fit and are so much fun to shoot with the steel frame. Congratulations on your purchase. You will love it.
