Thinking about reliability and handling only and not the cost.
IF you were to choose a single stack 9mm in the sig family what would it be and why between the 239, 225 or P6 The reason I ask is the 239 is current production and mags, parts, etc. are available easier than for the 225 or p6. This is replacing my Glock 30 I live in CA so I can only legally have 10 rounds so a single stack works. Other than a 1911 .45 this Sig 9mm will be my primary gun. Thanks. Chris. |

reliability - They are all reliable. It's a SIG Sauer.
handling- That'll be your call. My call: P239- It's got better DA pull than the P225/P6. |

I would go with the 239 SAS Gen 2 (if they make a Gen 2 for this model.
You'll be getting a pistol that has a wealth of accessories and after market parts. Not to mention the trigger pull will be a lot better out of the box. However you may want to try handling both of them to see which fits you better. Also, don't leave out the P229 - Its a tad bigger but you can easily get 10 round mags for it. I already owned a 239 in 9mm when they released the P6 trade ins.
The temptation to buy one was there, but I have my sights set on a stamped slide 220. |

P6....as it fits me best and I am most accurate with it, as a result of how well it fits my hand.

I have a P239 with over 3000 rounds through it and no failures to fire, feed or extract yet.
I put the short trigger on it and Hogue rubber grips with finger grooves. Recommend Comp Tac MTAC for carry. Concealment is excellent at about the 2:45 o'clock position with the forward canting of the holster making the handle lay on my body at about a 30 degree angle instead of sticking out the back where it could print on the shirt. My arm can also cover it there in case I am in a crowd and someone bumps into me from that side. Can't comment on 225 or P6, except to say that the price on those P6s is tough to pass up. If both fit well for you, my vote would go with the 239 as well, for all the extras available and better DA pull. As far as the 2nd gen SAS go, I believe they will follow the 1st gen SAS and be on the CA certified roster, but the SAS is only CA legal in .40, not 9mm.
(I figured the P6 was cheap enough and found a good deal on a slightly used 239, so I just got both SIG P226R (.40 S&W) SIG P6 (9mm) SIG P239R (.40 S&W) |

Just hold both.
Some people like the blocky, top heavy feel of the P239. Others prefer the perfect balance and pointability of the P225/P6. |

My wife has a P225, and I agree there is just something special about the handling of that gun. I also have a 229 and 220. The P225 feels like the perfect scale down of both. I never have liked the 239 quite as much, though it is still pretty nice.

I counsel you buying a 239 with Hogue rubber grips, now become a must with this pistol. As The pointability at that point the 239 would even approach the other candidate.

P239, hands down! I own both and besides the fact of magazines being so hard to get for the P6, the P239 is simply a better shooter and in my opinion, a better CCW carry. You won't be disappointed with either, but down the road, if you need or want extra magazines, you'd be better off with the P239

I'm not so sure concealability is a concern here as the OP lives in CA...unless ye be exempt?

P239 for sure. I shoot this weapon the best of all my handguns(that is as good of a reason as I can find)

I lean towards the 239 because of it is a current production model.
But the 225 is an absolute classic. The 239 I had handled like a boat anchor. and I like the squared/serrated trigger guard on the 225. The trigger pull on my P225 is a LOT better than either of my P6s (understandable, civvie vs. police pistol) and I think the P225 DA pull was at least as good as my old 239. All this being said, I sold the 239 years ago and now have a P225 and 2 P6s. But I carry my P229. |

I think you have to handle them side by side and make your own choice. I liked the P6 for its feel in my hand and my wife liked it for its impact on our budget.

thanks to everyone for their input. My local Gun shop has a 239 and a p6 to look at. They sure are unique in their feel. Different at least in my hands. Yup no carry permit here in CA yet
Wish they had a 225 to shoot. From the LE's I've spoken to the hogue grips are a must and change the feel and handling of the 239. Hopefully I will make my first purchase of a SIG in a few days Regards,. Ranger20 Glock 19 1911 Det.Spcl. |

I'd go with the 239. Easier to carry around.

239, for the same reason the OP stated. It is current production.
