I went to the range today to make sure the Trijicons I installed where on the money, and they where. On the way out, I spotted a SIG P220 out of the corner of my eye in the display case. It had a nickel plated slide, and an aluminum anodized frame. It had the older take down lever that was plated as well. I really wanted to walk out of there with it, but Jim (the owner) had a price tag of $850 on it. It was in near new condition, and I could tell it hadn't been shot much. I know I could of gotten it for less than $800, but it's no where in the budget. I'm really considering try to negotiate with him, but layaway, or trade are my only options, and that means the ball is in his court. Price seems a little high. What do you guys think?

You might do better to sell your "trade" here on the forum, or elsewhere to fund the 220.

You will likely loose your butt in the trade, especially if what you have is a step down for him.

But think "hunting".
Do not let the hunted know you are there, until you are ready to pull the trigger.

Get your cash in hand.

This place in Kansas city? I know of one exactly like you describe, except I thought it was new?? Same price, description and the guys name is Jim as far as I know.

I have the same thoughts on this one if its the same or not, price is a little high and I've known this place to not haggle much, and insult you with the trade values. But, if he's had it forever and you wave some cash he might bite. (If we're talking about the same gun).

Did it look like this?

They are not real common, but I think he is $200-$250 too high, in my opinion. Of course the price gets set at what anyone is willing to pay for it and what some is willing to let it go for.

Good luck.

I recently saw one in a shop in Bismarck, ND for $675. If I had the money it would have been mine.

It's in Independence, and it is used. I've known Jim for years, and he's worked with me quite a bit, but as posted. I won't do anything unless I have cash in hand, but even then. Jim is a stuborn mule when it comes to prices. I probably won't be able to buy it anytime soon, and I'm sure some guy with the money will pay close to what he wants. They usually do.

argolfer,
Nice, very nice, and yes, just like that one.

I work on Tuesdays, or I'd be there.

Jim isn't all that bad once you get to know him. His the one that gave me a "steal" of a deal on my P220 SAO. He retired from his full time job a few years ago, and his gotten a lot better. Better by comparison anyways. I'm going to have to try and forget about that Sig, can't afford it anyways.
