Ive heard rumors that SIG doesn't actually make the Mosquito in whatever facility in Germany that they build the rest of the SIG line. They just buy them under contract from the same company that makes the GSG-5 guns among others. Any truth to this?
There is a sticker on the front of the case of the Mosquito that I just bought that says "Made by J.P.Sauer & Sohn GmbH - gegr. 1751 Eckernforde-Germany". I'd say it looks like it's made by Sig.
I talked to a SIG rep a few weeks ago (about my 556 being sent in), and we got on the subject of the Mosquito I had just ordered. He said:
NOT made by SIG. Would not say who made it. But he definitely confirmed that they just bought them from another company.
You really get TWO mags in Europe; we get only one here.
They tried to make the factory triggers better (when they got them stateside), but could not figure out a good way. (and boy is the DA trigger bad--almost worthless. anyone else agree)?
Use CCI minimags for break in.
Use the lube hole on the side of the slide for plenty of lube.

Realtor, yeah the DA pull is VERY heavy on my Mosquito as well. I took Mississippi Dave's advice and took of my grips and sprayed the internals with Rem Oil which did help to smooth the trigger pull somewhat but it is still heavy.
I have over 10,000 rounds through my Skeeter and the DA pull is still heavier than all of my other guns with the exception of one, a Taurus revolver.

I'm going to try that before I go shooting this weekend.
They should be ashamed for making such an awful trigger.

By itself, this info doesn't mean much. Some European states have pretty ambiguous country of origin rules. In the case of German-made firearms, if it's been proofed in German,t it's considered to be manufacturer there. Walther PPK used to be manufactured in France by Manhurin, and yet it had "Made in Germany" printed on it.
