I bought one of the "Excellent to Like New Refinished Slide" P6s from CDNN. The pistol consistently shoots low and to the left. The front sight has the white dot and the rear sight has the remnants of the white marks. From what I've read here, I thought the P6 had black sights? The sights also don't appear to be centered on the slide so I surmise that the correct sights weren't properly reinstalled after the slide was refinished.
Both front and rear sight are #8. I realize I can change the rear sight to a different number and drift it to get the POI centered but I thought I'd try to get some info on what the "normal" front and rear sight numbers are. I have some extra numbered sights from CDNN and a sight pushing tool. My question is what number sights do you all have on your P6s? Also, what is a good white paint to touch up the sights with? Thanks |

8 front and rear are the most common numbers for a 9mm Sig. I don't have a P6 (just a regular P225) but I thought they all had factory contrast (not black) sights. My P225 has 8F/8R.
If you're shooting low and left I would guess you are right handed and that you're jerking the trigger or use too much trigger finger. Before changing anything have other people shoot it and shoot it from a rest. Also try changing the position of the "bullseye" relative to the front sight. Try more left hand grip and less from the right hand. |

My two p6'6 came with #8 and #7 sights and the funny thing is they were revesed on each gun. One had a #8 rear and a #7 front and the other had a #7 rear and a #8 front. Mine also came with a set of black sights on the 6/79 gun and Sig contrat sights on the 10/99 gun.
I replaced both sets of sights with Meprolight night sights with a #8 front and rear and both shoot dead center and in the bulls-eye. Freedom Is Not Free And Is Paid For By Our Military. Thanks, I'm a long time shooter and don't have any problem hitting the bull with my P220. Have shot free hand and from a rest - same result with the P6. Pretty sure it isn't a matter of jerking the trigger. I really do think the rear sight may have to be drifted a bit. |

hanno,
I'm on your side. If the gun shoots left for YOU, as long as you are consistent, then move the sights. I agree that 8/8 is the usual sight configuration, but how do you like to aim? And what ammo are you shooting? If you prefer a slight 6 o'clock hold, then you may want to install a #9 rear. If you cover your POA with the front sight, then #8 is correct. Again, its up to you. |

Mine is an 11/1979 which has a plain black sight setup. It was later the white marks are added to the sights.
