340PD 357mag
250c 9mm
1911 45acp

I have two of the three; when I get the last one I will not get another gun for a long while, no really. Smile

P210 with 3 caliber kit, covers 22, .30, and 9mm in one handgun.

Then a S&W 337 or 360 for lightweight summer carry.

A S&W 629 for serious uses.

Right now I'd have to go with:

Carry: Kimber Tactical Ultra II (sorry PPS)

Home Defense: HK P30L with Insight Laser/Light

Range: I've always wanted an Ed Brown Special Forces; so why not?

See my 1000th Karma Post (thanks for the inspiration modiecast)

So far it looks like the consensus for Home Defense is: Sig 226>Sig 229>Sig 220>HK 45.........and for CCW is: Glock 19>Sig 239>Sig 229......and a 1911 for Target/Range.

I personally have/prefer a HK 45 for HD and a Sig 239 .357 for CCW (Rohrbaugh or Kahr P9 for backup) and a Wilson Combat Supergrade 1911 for Target.

This is a fun thread to see all of the different opinions out there.

Since you like caliber conversions or multi-caliber guns... You do know a S&W 460 will fire a 460S&W, 454 Casull, and a 45 Long Colt. The last round opens up a wide range of options from +P to cowboy action loads that would feel like a 22 out of a 460.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsel or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands of those who feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you. May posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Classic 226
High end 1911 ( Nighthawk, Ed Brown, SA Pro...)

Although I have been looking at the Nighthawk GRP Recon here lately. But don't have close to 3K to pick it up.

I read thru the responses quickly, but think everyone responded with three different pistols! And many different calibers.

If I was actually (legally) limited to three pistols I'd want some standardization in type and caliber. Three M1911s, three SIG P220, or three Glock 17 all come to mind as meeting that requirement.

I really like my 1911s, Browning HPs, and pre-lock S&W revolvers...but, they don't get used very often and tend to spend a great deal of time in the safe. If I could only have three handguns, I'd choose the three that get used the most and have very different utility:
- Sig P220 (W.German folded-slide model)
- Glock G26
- Ruger MK II Government Target

If it's got t*ts or a motor, it's bound to give you problems.
