Any one of them could fit all three roles. The 226 is a on the large side for carry but on cold days with heavier clothes, I'd be fine.

I guess things would really be bad if I could only own 3 pistols. Ruger 22/45(range), P228(defense), and a S&W 500(for hunting, and home defense)...

my first post here! this is a great forum - already found a ton of great info here - thx to all!

HK USP .45 - most reliable gun i own atm.
Sig P220-Carry - just got this one, will probably be my fav once i get past the Last-Round-FTF issues. Frown
Glock 18 - I don't own one, but always wanted one of these. Big Grin

CCW (warm weather): 229 genII SAS (9mm)
Range: 226 ST Elite (9mm)

at least, thats what I own, and there intended roles... The 226 ST WAS my hd gun...but my fiancee loved it and it became hers, so I was FORCED to get a 1911 for my own HD gun Big Grin

Hmmmmmm.... I'll have to strike a different tone here:

S&W Model 19 or 66 .357 Magnum
S&W Model 29 or 629 .44 Magnum
SIG P220 .45 Auto

If I had to go with just one, it would be the .44 Magnum, since it can be loaded mild to extremely wild and is readily available.
