I love my P229-40. Great shooting and good looking as well. I bought mine in 2001, new at the LGS.

My older “legacy” P229 has such a smooth trigger, and is a fine handling forty.

For the most part, I suspect it’s a matter of aesthetics. But, I believe the older model is heavier than the newer one.
