Don't recall if mine did that. Get to the range and give as a report. Mine jammed with round nose FMJ's - there was no way it would be dependable with ANY hollowpoints.

I'm not used to small guns, so this may be normal, but I am used to my glock where I can chamber a round very lightly.

I always rack the slide of my LCP since the slide lock is only, as far as I'm concerned an ornament. Never a problem with 210 various FP,RN, HPs and hand loads down range. Carry 102 gr. Golden Saber in it.

I have probably 200+ rounds thru mine so far - pretty much a mixture of anything I could get my hands on ammo-wise and I've had no failures of any sort.

Still, I'm probably going to trade it at the next gun show. I've got a Seecamp .380 on the way now and I only need one mouse gun.

As long as they correct the pistol, I'll be okay with it. It's just frustrating to buy something (reguardless of cost) and to have it not work "as advertised". This goes double for something to be carried as a possible life saver no less.

I feel ya! It's worse that my Ruger LCP has been nearly flawless, but my new P239 is back at the factory learning how to eat hollowpoints. At least people with jamming LCPs can say, "I only spent $300." I have $750 in my Sig paperweight... Frown

Just picked one up today for $280...thought I'd give it a go just for fun...I'll update with range info soon.

The "L" in LCP is no joke...it weighs less than my knife or phone unloaded. (That is, when my phone is unloaded. Wink)

My wife's CCW is a P239 40. It eats anything you feed it.
Bottom line, any manufacturer can have a few bad ones slip through - some seem to have more than others though.......

Looking for something for a pocket pistol, considered the LCP and the PF-9 and other Kel-Tecs and, frankly, the discussions in the forums scared me away. One problem after another, with huge implications for reliability.

Thought about Kahrs -- have owned them in the past -- but the smaller ones (PM and MK) have a lot of documented problems, too. And there is tthat Moonie thing.

The Sig P239 is a great pistol but too big and heavy to go into my pocket.

Not really interested in a .380, but there are some ones that would work, I think, for size and weight (PPK, Bersa Thunder, maybe a P232).

So --- will just wait for Sig-Sauer to make a smaller 9mm. And wait. And wait.

What about a J-Frame? I already had pocket carry guns, I just bought the LCP for fun because it was intriguingly light and small.

J frames are a good recommendation. I'm just hoping to do this with a pistol. The missing ingredient in the P239, M&P 9c, XD-9sc, Glock 26, etc., is narrow width.

Narrow: what about a walther pps or an older ppk...(only because I have a newer ppk/s also, and wouldn't trust it for carry...seems like Smith's have got heavier springs or something.)

I think if you want a consistently reliable SMALL gun, you need to look for a revolver.

Well I went to the range yesterday, only had the chance to shoot 50 rounds, but they went fantastic, No problems whatsoever and I was able to point shoot what I was aiming at.

The only downside I thought were the sights, but this is a point shoot gun, not a target pistol.

I would definitely recommend (and have) to anyone who asked.

Can't trust Ruger with what ??
Also , $330 is listed as "retail" on Ruger's site .

I've been in this business long enough to know that whoever made , doesn't matter . Any brand/model gun can fail . I can only report that we've had no reported failures on the 23 we've sold .

I picked up my LCP last Thursday, and took it to the range this morning. I'm seeing the same effect FiremanMike has mentioned here, and I thank throwingdown for the photo (OP) -- at least one round from every magazine I loaded looked like that following a failure to feed.

Zebulon: how'd you go about sending yours back? Did you contact Ruger directly, or did you have your dealer do it?

Today's ammo was Remington green-box stuff. I've got some Blazer around that I fed my P3AT -- I'm hoping to try that out tomorrow -- and I bought some new Remington this afternoon as well. (Regrettably, I only took one type of ammo with me this morning.) If the results are the same with three different ammos, then I think I'm going to want to have Ruger fix it.

Tangent bummer: the rear sight fell out of my P239 this morning, too. Frown

So I went back to the range today, with another box of Remington and a few leftover rounds of Blazer. Results today were similar to those yesterday, in that the last round did not want to feed.

I picked up a few of the empties and noticed that the primer strike was not centered.

In this pic the top left and bottom left cartridges were hit by the firing pin, but did not fire. Not good, and these aren't the only ones.

Anyone else have this issue? Is the off-center primer strike unusual, or no big deal?

I owned and soon after, got rid of my LCP. If it wasn't failing to feed, the barrel was chewing up the metal insert on the frame. Needless to say, I couldn't trust this weapon.

In recent weeks I've come to one realization, no more mouse guns for me! If it doesn't say Sig Sauer, Glock, Walther, Smith & Wesson, or Springfield on the side, it's not going in my safe.

As for the frame hammering from the rear of the slide - mine was after they discovered "that" problem - the frame had already been painted and the area in question had been machined out after.
Vthoky - I see yours has the smiley faces too. Don't mess with it, send it back to Ruger.
I'm waiting for mine to come back.

I contacted Ruger and told them what was happening and the rep said I would have to send it in. The mailed me a label so I didn't have to pay shipping.
