Bought it about 3 weeks ago. First trip to the range it shot fine except it would jam the last round of every 2-3 magazine against the roof of the barrel.
Did some reading on other forums about some with similar problems.....

I polished the feed ramp (barely) and noticed machine "rings" in begining of inner barrel - like it was rough cut and not finished, so I polished those (was unable to smooth them down -just got rid of the roughness). Also stopped by the dealer and was given a replacement magazine?? - Thought it might help....

FF to today. Back at the range. Would only shoot 4 of 6 rounds in the magazine before jamming bullets against roof of barrel - (before it would only do it on the last bullet - thus reason for getting new magazine.

Took it back to the dealer to have it sent in and fixed. I renamed mine RUGER LCP to
RUGER POS. In light of their "other" recall, it may be some time before I get it back.

I've been wanting to get one myself but have held myself back for now. I've heard one too many bad reports on them. Although there been been many good reports as well, I'm just not convinced that all the bugs have been worked out yet. That is why I always try to wait whenever a new design comes out to jump on the bandwagon and buy one until all the bugs have been worked out. look at the Ruger SR9 as an example. It was released with so much fanfare and already it's been recalled. I'll continue to carry my Smith 642 as a BUG until they fix whatever is troubling the LCP.

Sadly the company simply isn't, "...our daddies Ruger anymore". Family not interested in continuing the business and are no longer involved (sold ALL their stock). Mostly automated machining, mass-production, lax testing before release and 'QC" now stands for, Quit Complaining.

No matter the reason, the last four newly released weapons have been problem plagued.

Old "Ten Round Magazines" are sufficient Mr. Ruger must be turning over in his plush lined casket.

What else can one expect when a gun is a nearly direct copy of another problem plagued pistol. (KelTec P-3AT)

Not railing on ya throwingdown, just been through a bunch of troubles with a P-3AT myself. When I saw the first pictures of the LCP all I could think was ........ "I wonder if it will have a bunch of troubles like the KT's ?"

Good luck, I hope Ruger fixes it right for you.

that's not encouraging. OTOH, I have had no problems with my P3AT.

Just another story that has made me do a complete one-eighty on this weapon and totally deterred me from even considering one in the immediate future. Maybe if Ruger fixes the problem with the design/maunfacturing - not holding my breath - I'll maybe get one in a few years, not likely though. Too bad because I've got a Ruger P94 in .40 that runs flawless with all ammo and which I love since it was my first ever handgun purchase. That's one I'll never get rid of simply because of that.

Hope Ruger gets your LCP up and running. Good luck.

No, just a reflection of my hands on the camera...

As long as they correct the pistol, I'll be okay with it. It's just frustrating to buy something (reguardless of cost) and to have it not work "as advertised". This goes double for something to be carried as a possible life saver no less.

I read somewhere that Ruger and Kel-Tec use parts from the same manufacturer??

My LCP was doing pretty much the same thing so I sent it back to Ruger. They replaced the extractor and polished up the insides. I got it back in 10 days. I've put 300 rounds through it since I got it back with no malfunctions.

Again, ruger they name is crap. Its funny how all the people who were lauding the pistol and poo-pooing are nowhere to been seen now.

The LCP looks like a knock-off of the Kel-Tec....except my Kel-Tec works. Razz

I also believe that today's Ruger is not the Ruger of my youth, and frankly they make almost nothing that appeals to me, nor do they appear to support our rights concerning firearms ownership. I spend my money elsewhere. YMMV

I tried to get an LCP, had a Kel-Tek (it was hit and miss even after I sent it back), found a Model 37 airweight, haven't looked back.

Thanks for the heads up - hope mine returns in similar working condition.

Just a question for you guys with LCP problems. I've still not shot mine yet, and just loaded it up this morning with Winchester Ranger SXTs.. When I go to chamber a round, it gets stuck on the ramp. Now if I rack the slide to chamber a round (as if it were in a firing situation) it does just fine, but if I just pull back and let fall forward I get the hang up.

I'm not used to small guns, so this may be normal, but I am used to my glock where I can chamber a round very lightly.
