Have come across a pretty good deal on a Glock and had a quick question in regards to the Glock integrated grip lock, which this one has.

The owner of the weapon claims that he is not the second owner of this weapon. He also claims that the original owner sold it to him without the little silver Glock key that locked both the missing original case and also the Glock. My questions are these:

1. How do you all feel about this mechanism?
(I'm guessing most will say, "Blah. Phooey.")

2. Anybody know if it would be a problem to get a replacement key from Glock?
(I'm calling them tomorrow.)

Thanks ahead of time for the responses.

I didn't know Glocks came with integrated locks. When did this start?

Not sure when they introduced it, but I know its been a factory option for at least a couple of years. That said, I've never actually seen one in person.

Sigconhuevos, when you can get a new Glock for $431 OTD (LE price including TX sales tax), that would have to be a very good deal indeed to put up with the hassle of getting a new key or removing the lock. I don't know much at all about the mechanism, but I would be hesitant to purchase anything with a lock built in to it if the guy selling it to me didn't have a key.

I have a 'bunch' of glocks. A few have the lock, it has not been any kind of problem.
The only issue I could see if you are the kind of person who likes to swap out internal parts in which case it does cause some restricitons.
I think you would have to ask Glock about the key.
I actually like the lock for a gun I leave in the car, though normally I'm against them.

hey man, this is a double post!! Wink

jk, i've never seen the locking version either. sounds undesireable that the seller doesn't have everything.. i'd just buy a new or used glock without the key issue. i wouldn't want the lock anyway.

enjoy glock perfection!

I'm also on that side of the fence about it (undesirable) but it's a LNIB G30 with nearly new Trijicon nite sites for $440 total. Supposedly the gun's current owner just isn't "into Glocks" and says he has no use for it. Besides that, he's one of those where the wifey wears the pants and won't let him have more than one firearm. He actually told me that without shame! Says he only has his deer rifle for whitetail and that's it! He also claims that he's only shot less than one magazine through it and it appeared to be as new/unfired when he acquired it a little over 6 months ago.

I've got a G30 now but seeing as how these go for $460 + tax + shipping + transfer fee on this end, it comes out to $550 total without nite sites.

I have not seen the weapon and won't be able to do so until Wednesday because I'm taking the family on a roadie to SA tomorrow and will be gone until next week. I'll keep posting as the deal potentially works itself out.

Keep the thoughts coming as all are welcome.

I would not buy anything with an integrated lock on it.

That having been said, if you buy this gun, make a copy of your approved 4473 and purchase receipt. Glock will likely ask for it as proof that you are the new owner.

Interesting. I guess I haven't been keeping up with Glock products. Integrated locks? We don't need no stinking locks. Is it optional? Or do all the new ones come with it?

Actually, it would be a private purchase and would probably only have a handwritten receipt with my name, TX DL#, and signature.

Also, just to clarify my previous post - that price I was speaking of above is for LEO pricing as I'm sure civilian sales are a bit higher on the G30. Much higher actually. Somewhere around the $600 mark maybe? Not sure though.

Gonna have to think long and hard about this one guys.... Confused

It's optional but I've never asked or been asked about it when ordering a NIB Glock. It's a tiny flat key that locks both the weapon and the case, which has the matching key pattern on a small round lock assembly. Now I'm curious; wonder how much more that option costs? I'd like to know just for sh!ts and giggles.

If you'd like to know more about the Glock Safety Lock, courstesy of Glock homepage.

Its easy to see how you're tempted by the offer. It's a pretty good price. If you find out that the key is easily replaced or the lock easily removed, then I'd go for it.
If its going to be a hassle, or cost anything to deal with the missing key issue, I'd pass. $440 is a good deal, but not too good to pass up.

sigconhuevos,
just fyi, i think the glock night sites are sub-optimal. i'd go with a non-locking gun (used?) and then buy good nightsites from Warren Tactical or Sevigny. They are just way better sites.
When you see the gun, make sure to check for smiles on the barrel. that will tell you if it's only had one mag run through it as claimed. sounds unlikely that someone would have a brand new gun, ammo, then just run a single mag through it.

also, if you're a member of the GSSF (glock shooting sports foundation), you can buy a glock right now at REALLY cheap prices.
i think it's www.GSSFONLINE.com
gssf runs some fun matches all around the country. i'm shooting the one in CA this weekend.

Locks on handguns are undesireable. I have a safe to lock up my guns.

I haven't bought S&W's with locks. I won't buy Glocks with locks.

At least Glock had the good sense to make it optional, unlike Safety Wesson. Regards 18DAI.
