I am dire need of a compact.45 for concealed carry. I have narrowed it down to these 2 choices. Please help me decide as I am suffering from paralysis by analyisis.

The XD is good to go. So is the G30/G30SF.

Since you already have a Glock 19C, go with the G30 or G30SF. The XD has a much different trigger.

Either way, both are outstanding pistols.

I know that would make sense but have been wanting to try an XD. Maybe I should buy both and sell the least favorite.

XD, I have had a glock 30 and the XD feels better in my hand and I shoot it better. See if you can find them to shoot and see what you think.

i would prefer glock over XD, but you have to handle and shoot them yourself.

I just went through this a couple of weeks ago. The G30 is great but it pinched my hand where the mag meets the frame. The XD felt better to me...reset is not as good as the Glock but the XD just worked better for me overall. I think they are close enough where only you can make the call...both are excellent.

Purchased a bitone compact .45 XD a couple of weeks ago. Shot over 100 rounds of Atlanta Arms range rounds and about 15 Speers God Dot .45 +P rounds. No malfunction or misfire. Dead on at 10 yards. Shot a bit low at 25 yd. Have a P239 9mm with night sights. My XD is the 4" compact model with everything stock. Trigger pull is ok but does not break as well as the single action on the p239. The stock sights are more difficult than the Sig sights to sight in at 25 yards. Only thing about the firearm that I may consider changing. Really like the mags. Have a 10 and 13 round mag with grip extender. Both are comfortable and the grip angle is great. The Glocks I shot don't feel as "solid" or have as good follow-through action. Just my thoughts.

My son just sold his XD and bought the G30SF. Frankly the trigger isn't near as nice as the Glock and that was the reason he sold and I felt the same way. I have 2 G30's and there really is no compare as far as stock triggers.

i'm am having this exact same dilema. i wish i could find someplace to shoot both. my biggest question is concealment. which conceals better? the xd is bigger, but is the glock fatter?

i've read on other forums of people saying they're very happy with the accuracy of the glock.

IMHO the G30 is one of the best .45 out there, it is extremely accurate and shoots like a dream and had an XD.45 and like the G30 trigger much better also!

XD-45. $30 for a Powder River safety and the trigger is on-par if not better than a Glock. Put about $100 into it and it'll rival a 1911.

The G30 may seem dimensionally smaller if you compare the two guns purely by numbers, but honestly, shooting a G30 without the Pearce pinky extensions is quite painful. Once you have them on though, they're actually pretty close in size.

They're both good guns, the G30 is sightly fatter but shorter. The XD-45 feels like a plastic 1911 and is about as wide.

If you think gun magazines are objective or honest, when's the last time they wrote a truly negative review of a firearm? Do you really think all of those pre-production models they're shooting run as reliably and shoot as accurately as they say they do?

90% of gun malfunctions can be attributed to poor ammo (reloads, Russian, etc.), lack of maintenance, weak springs, cheap magazines, or improper technique. When a well-trained shooter using a wide variety of high quality ammunition fed from a reliable, self-leveling magazine shoots your gun after it's gone through a through inspection, spring replacement, and cleaning, and still has problems, then it's the gun. Until then, the problem is YOU.

just ordered my g30sf can't wait to get it. I actually like the grip of the xd better but I feel the glock is better all around. Besides since I already have a g19, it seemed to be the right thing to do.

I bought the XD compact when I was in your exact situation last year. At the time they did not have the 30SF. I LOVE glocks - my G21 is my favorite pistol and a carry a G36 in the warmer months - but the 30 just didn't fit my hand as well as the XDcompact.

I've since handled a 30SF, and if it had been around at the time I'd have gotten it over the XD. That said, I can't really justify trading the XD for the 30SF at this point. It is a great gun that shoots well.

I don't find I need the extensions on the 30 or 36s, and given that they are a bit shorter than the XDs = maybe a quarter inch. Its not huge, but it helps a tiny bit with concealment in some conditions. The other dimensions are too close to matter.

Only you can decide, but luckily you're choosing between two pistols that will exactly fit your intended purpose - so you've got no wrong choice.

Before I decided to get a P220, I was looking to get a 30SF as my next gun purchase. It feels great in my hand, though it is a little fat. The XD is a great gun also and was actually the first .45 I ever fired. Very smooth gun. I just favor the Glocks though and would get the Glock over an XD. I think you have to make the call on this one.

Reading the posts the predominant theme is "both the Glock and the XD are great, the choice is up to you"! That's good advice. For me the choice lies in how the gun fits my hand and, for me, it is the XD hands down. Try to hold them both and then go with how the gun fits in your hand. Wink
