I searched but wasn't successful.

Would a platinum Elite 9mm slide (legacy) fit a .40
229R stainless elite German frame?

Magazines?

Yes, the slide will fit. Due to the larger magwell on the .40, you should look for 229-1 mags so that they fit without a rattle. You also get 15 rds instead of 13.
