That is a great idea, I wish that I had standardized on 9mm a long time ago. I own a P220ST and it would be real sweet if it was a 9.

Sounds like I'll have the pistol back in about a month. Being a long-time collector of firearms, I consider myself somewhat jaded when it comes to waiting on a gun, but I admit that I am quite eager to get this one back in my hands.

Anticipation can be a good thing. It's easier as we get older than it is when we're a kid. But that depends on what we're waiting for too. Congratulations, that's been quite a process.

I'm new to the forum (just purchased a P226 and own a stainless Kimber in 45 ACP).

This is obviously a fascinating gun; and I'm intrigued by your ingenuity.

What would be the advantages of this gun vs. an "off the rack" P226?

I'm anxious to see pictures of the gun when it returns and more than anxious for a range report.

None, I'm sure, except that you can get an "off the rack" 226 in any well-stocked gun shop, whereas this pistol is essentially one of a kind.

your one off, FrankenSIG 220ST is going to be "cooler than the backside of pillow"

I admire ingenuity and creative - this gun reflects both

I appreciate your extra effort - thank you

I'm mostly new to guns but already have a fond spot for Sigs in particular. My first gun was a 229 and I just picked up a used 232 SL, which is awesome in its own way.

I'm impressed by Para's dedication. Looking forward to an update when the time is right.

that gun is just begging for a suppressor.

could you imagine how soft shooting it would be?

gives me a shit eating grin just thinking about it...

I really love the full stainless heft of the ST guns...

If you like that, you should find out about the 10oz stainless grips that will be produced for special order by Hogue.

This has been a very interesting project to follow for some time now. Good that you set your timeline expectations low, outcome expectations high!

Looking forward to the final outcome.

Thank you. The pistol is essentially completed. It is awaiting it's internally adjustable GGI trigger. Once that's in place, it's on it's way back to me.

I am told that the pistol is now functioning without a hitch. Cool

This has been a really interesting project to read about. Nothing like having something that's totally unique while having such notable character and special parts history, with Bruce's well known "magic" to make it all come together in smooth form and function.

Wow...just WOW!

Range time $10....a few boxes of 9mm FMJ ammo $50....owning and shooting a one-of-a-kind pistol that most SIG owners would gladly give some of their body parts to own....PRICELESS!!! Big Grin

The only thing about the 220 I've never been able to quite get used to (I had a P220ST I sold for this reason) is it seems the grip frame is just slightly large for my hands especially for being a single stack pistol. It may even just be a combination of the grips and frame geometry that makes it feel that way to me but it just doesn't feel 100% right in my hand.

Custom "Longslide" P6 Project anyone? Wink

I'm sure many of us are anxious to hear how it performs once you get it!

Para,

I think SigSauer might owe you some royalties. Seems they've been working on a longslide conversion. It is designed for the 220 X-Six frame, I'm not sure if it will fit with a standard 220ST dustcover.

The last sentense on that announcement is the most interesting to me:

"Nevertheless, on request, SIG SAUER also offers the P220 X-SIX in 9 mm Para, which then has a magazine capacity of 9 rounds."

Let's hope Exeter imports this one.

Para,

When you get this back would you be willing to share the specs with regard to the weight of the pistol? I'm curious to the weight difference in regard to a standard 9mm 220 or a standard 9mm 226, or even a 9mm 226 ST.
