Just traded into a 1995 P226. Serial U538 2XX. 9mm Para. W/ heel lanyard.

Also, my P6 is a 1992, triple serial M589 8XX. 9mm Para. Imported by PW Arms, Redmond, WA. Hooked hammer, American mag release.

SiG P226 9mm Factory 2 tone and All American manufacture (no other markings and serial number appears to be cut as the US frames are cut) 226-9-T with 2 10 round Magazines and Von Stavenhagen sights...Stainless slide with external extractor...silver colored controls and grip screws

Serial Number UU 597 5XX

June of 1999

I realize that this throws off the previous UU prefix US Made frames. I am told by two sources that these were made late in the 1990's and the frames may have been replaced due to outsized US made frames.

Call Sig. They can tell you the manufacture date. At least I assume they can give the date for a German made gun.

Without paying for it, they're likely to only be able to tell you a range of years, as they did with mine, but it was incorrect.

Pay for it. Thery were glad to tell me when my 229 was built down to the month and year. Of course, this was about 7 years ago.

Hello Everyone, I had to call SIG Customer Service this morning regarding my newly purchased P.229 .357 Sig barrel. While I had them on the line, I got them to check the shipping dates on my newest SIG's. The relevant data is as follows; P.226R-DAK .40 S&W, # UU-6206XX = JANUARY 2005 & P.229R-DAK .40 S&W, # AM-296XX = FEBRUARY 2005.

I'm hoping someone can help me out on this.
I just purchased a P220 (in new condition) and the serial number is G 218 9XX with a date stamp of KD (1993).

But on the serial number list found on page 1 of this thread it goes from G217 to G220, it skips right over G218/G219. Why is this?
If someone can provide some info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Simply because an example within that serial number range hasn't been found or offered up yet.

By no means is the list all inclusive of every existing SIG serial number for the given models.

The best you can surmise from the list, is that your particular pistol was probably manufactured toward the far end of the year. Your date proof obviously has already indicated the year of production and/or proofing.

Cheers.

I'm new to Sigs, but I have a German-born P226R w/ carbon slide, w/ triple serial number U827xxx. As others have similarly mentioned on this thread, that s/n corresponds w/ 2011. The sticker on my tupperware says 13July2011, to be exact. The date code is DE, which means what exactly? 34?

I also have a German-born P228, s/n B288xxx, which as near as I can tell is a 1998/99 gun. I can't find a 2 character date code on it. Am I correct in my approximate dating?

DE is just the country origin code basically. Deutschland/Germany
