I've had and loved my 2004 DAK P220 for quite a long time. It serves triple duty, range toy, handload tester, and home defense... maybe once a month I holster and carry it instead of my SRT'ed P245.

My other two Sigs are SRT'ed. I've noticed that I cannot run accurate doubletaps with the DAK trigger... although I am dead on accurate with it... just slow.

So... I am considering taking the plunge to convert my P220 from DAK to TDA.

If I were to do something KRAZY, like send my DAK P220 to Greyguns for a full conversion to RRCDP, what parts would be needed?

I already have a standard P220 hammer lying around, as well as a TDA sear and safety lever from my P245 conversion to SRT. I don't really want to buy a new sear or any other part if GGI is going to install a proprietary one instead.

How accurate vs how slow?

I'll assume you are comparing
2 DAK trigger pulls to
1 DA and then 1 SA trigger pull?

I am exactly. I've trained more with the DAK but the SRT/TDA just jives better for me shooting quickly (as it's designed).

I can put 8 aimed shots in a 4" area with the dak, as opposed to 12-15 aimed shots in a nominally larger area in the same amount of time. Both within self-defense ranges (7-12 yards). On all semi-autos I shoot, I have trained exclusively to ride the trigger back and feel the reset - I do this with the DAK every time, even in rapid fire. Doubletap spacing at 7 yards is maybe 10" grouped with DAK, anywhere from 4" to 6" grouped TDA.

I eventually plan on competition and right now have a P226 to cut my teeth on, but I shoot .45 just as well as 9mm and if I want to shoot major production I'll need bigger.

Does a DAK frame have the cutout for the decocking lever and bearing?

If you're planning on USPSA, all Production is scored Minor, regardless of what caliber you're shooting. If you want to score Major with your P220, you'll have to do it in Limited 10, as I understand it doesn't qualify for Single Stack since it's not a 1911 design (which I was kinda bummed about).

Pretty lame (about the single stack), but I have no qualms about shooting Limited 10.
