A couple of years ago my father gave me his Interarms/Walther Licensed PPK/S

Beautiful little pistol, but had terrible issue with safety dropping and hammer following as well as not being able to clear a magazine without it dropping from the frame.

Well, when Walther took over production of the PPK line from S&W, I hazard to ask Walther support, in an email if they would service the pistol.

Service dept asked for the serial number and they agreed to service the pistol?! I then asked, at my cost, would they provide a FedEx label so that I didn't have to pay the next day, overnight Air... to which they agreed... it gets better.

They service the pistol and return it in 3 days at no cost, all covered under warranty and they didnt charge for the shipping.

Indeed, that is tremendous customer service!!!

I will get to the range tomorrow to test the pistol, however I am confident it will be fine as it was dirty from test firing.

If all goes well, I will be a definite Walther proponent.

I was fully prepared to pay for shipping and servicing.

All the best
Billy

That’s outstanding service. Warranty work on a gun three manufacturers ago.

It was real cold...

Ran 3 magazines of Perfecta, 95 grn FMJ through the PPK/S, fantastic nary a hitch!

Used the two original magazines, one with rest, other without and a MecGar.

Glorious!

To add, I neither asked, nor received the old parts back.

I do however have a safety and a magazine catch from the period that I bought used, but were worn and didn't install.

Here is what was documented as being done...

==============================
Gun needs safety and mag-catch replaced
Install & Fit Part(s)Listed
Tested OPS at Range at 100%
Parts Used 5

Service Walther PPK/S - SN ***** $45.00

C00006 Safety Detent $4.58

C00016 Magazine Catch - Stainless $12.95

Warranty-Walther $138.33

Order Subtotal: 0

This company really stands behind its designs

After having been hosed by S&W, Sig, Colt... this is tremendously refreshing.

Huzzah for Walther!

Terrific experience you had with Walther. Di they offer a reasonable explanation for the malfunction?

No, guess just parts wear, that’s what it looked to me when I inspected the surfaces.
Possible galling between the divot in the safety and the detent.

The pistol had been my fathers edc for close to 30+ years. Recently, he gave it to me and that’s when the issues surfaced.

He hadn’t shot the pistol in years glad he never had to use it.

When I was younger, there was never a problem that I could recall.

Glad to have it up and running, it’s a solid little pistol and is very accurate.

All the best
Billy

Congrats on getting the PPK running so well. I know that’s satisfying. I’ve never even shot a PPK, but I’m a huge fan of the PPS Classic and M2, own a couple, and prefer it to my P365 as my go-to carry gun, even though I like the 365 a lot also. There’s just something about the grip size and texture (with Talon rubber) of that M2 that feels perfect in my hand. And I put the +1 spring kit into my 8 rd mag, so now I have 9+1 when I carry, which is a little closer to the 12+1 of the SIG. Love that pistol...

I have a PPSm2 that needed the recall done on the trigger bar. They sent me a FedEx RMA and I had the gun back in 72hours door to door. I have a mid 1980’s ppk/s from my dad that’s always been finicky feeding. Might send it in.

I have been considering other Walther models for a while now, looking for a more modern Walther design this coming year.

That is, if the insanity dies down... no hysteria prices for me.

Unfortunately, that may be a while.
