Tonight while breaking down my Buckmark to clean, the recoil spring guide assembly shot out and the retaining spring will not go back onto the guide rod. Well, it will go back on but it is extremely loose.

I have 4 parts the spring, the guide rod, the guide, and the retaining spring. Am I missing something?

If not, is this a part that is replaceable? If so will Browning spend me another?

Has this happened to anybody else? How'd you get it fixed?

HELP!

I have a buckmark and just had some issues with the guide rod, spring and c-clip. It was due to my own fault though.

When you say retaining spring, do you mean the c-clamp? If so it is extgremely loose on mine also. It seems the tension from the guide rod spring keeps it from coming off.

MAKE SURE YOUR GUIDE ROD IS COMPLETELY STRAIGHT! I bent mine the first time I disassembled the gun for cleaning which caused my issues.

Let me know if you need more help.

Looks like you have the older version of the guide rod with the "C" clip that retains the spring on the rod. Did you lose the little plastic buffer ("headstone") that goes at the pointed end of the rod?

If memory serves, front to back: rod thru firing pin breech block, then spring on rod, the plastic buffer, last "C" clip to hold it all together.

One of mine is a newer version that comes without the "C" clip. The plastic buffer loosely "snaps' onto the rod and doesn't hold the spring well at all. I much prefer the older system. They cheaped out on the new version all to save the cost of one "C" clip.

Good Luck,

Yipes, man you are in really deep sh#t!

No, seriously if you keep the spring straight, it should work fine.
