Well, I posted a question about the P226 Nickel and you guys all told me it was a great gun... I went ahead and got it, and man am I pleased! I have been a Glock guy for a long time, but this SIG is sweet! Anyone know where I can get some info on when this one was made? The s/n starts with a "U" and the slide says "Made in Germany". Thanks, and yes... I think I may be aquiring a "signess"...

If you bought it new, doesn't the case have a sticker on it to indicate date of manufacture?
Otherwise, SIG can give you an exact date, but it costs for the service. By giving the entire serial number, someone else might be able to give you a ball park date... *************************************** What type of cheese would you like with your whine? |

Look under the chin of the slide near the muzzle. There should be a two letter date code.

Is there a date code under the front of the slide under the proof marks?
Date codes: A=0 B=1 C=2 D=3 E=4 F=5 G=6 H=7 J=8 K=9 |

OK - I bought the gun like new in the box, but not from a dealer, so... the gun is not "new". As far as what is under the muzzle...
There is, in order from muzzle back... A mark that looks kinda like a bug, another shape that kinda looks like a seashell with an "n" under it, and finally a KB Does that give you guys enough info? Thanks |

Standard German proofs, 1991. Should say W.Germany on right side of slide. Who is the importer?? |

Left side says "SIGARMS INC" and under that it says EXETER-NH...

That is probably a very early Exeter import plated by Klein Plating in Erie Pennsylvania.
Nice piece!! |

Awe, jeez. Be careful man. Before you know it, you'll have more Sigs than underwear. Remember this, it is not a good idea tosell the tires off your wifes car to get your next Sig fix. Oh yea, stay away from the new P228's. They're not "real" Sigs. Nice P226, enjoy Forget San Francisco. I Left My Heart In Colorado |
