I would go with the above and add a 229 Sport. Good luck. |

If you don't plan on carrying the gun, I too would lean towards the P226ST. If you are considering carry, P229.

I'd vote for my non-railed 229, triple serial number. Was not sure how I'd like it, as my only comparison would have been the former Glock 32 I used to own. Man this thing shoots very well. First time out, at appx. 25 feet, I put about 30 rounds into about a 2" group. Not bad for an old guy with bad eyes like me.

I can testify as to the 226ST - it's a gas. I can't testify as to the X5, but I sure do want one. |

Has anybody tried an SP2340/2022 in .357 SIG? How does it compare to the P229?

Gents,
As much as I like my P226 Elite .357 Sig the new caliber positively ROCKS in a converted .40 S & W Hi-Power. I know you asked and it's not a "factory" gun, but it's by far the best platform I've shot the new Sig round in... Wes |

Just a P226 IMO... X-5 if anything.

In this vein, what about the CZ 75? I know several variants/versions are available in .40S&W... did anyone ever make a conversion for this? |

shooter_tx,
The CZ .40's convert nicely to .357 Sig. I have a friend in Arizona that had had two CZ-75's converted and absolutely loves them. I believe he used EFK Firedragon barrels. Bar-Sto may also make a conversion. I love CZ's, but the safeties can't be worked with my short thumbs. That really sucks, because they rock. Wes |

Best, I would also have to say the P226ST. It just feels right. I have a pair of them I dont think I'll ever part with.
But, I also like it in the P229ST, and really really like it in the P239. ________________________________________ SIGS - SIGS - SIGS |

+1 The P226ST with 357SIG barrel in place is my go to gun, and a genuine pleasure to shoot. _______________________________________________________________________________ “Stand your ground. Do not fire unless fired upon. But if they mean to have war, let it begin here!” |

for those who suggested the 229, what do you like about its handling of this caliber over the 226?

For me, it is a matter of size for concealability. I have a 226 in 9MM and the 229 in .357Sig. Both are great, it is a bit easier to conceal the 229.
