The hard part of about concealing a fullsize Glock is not the slide/barrel length, it's the grip length. If you're not concealing it then there isn't a real advantage to the shorter slide/barrel either.

If I had my druthers, I'd rather have a G17 length slide and barrel, with a G19 grip. Slightly better performance due to the longer barrel, longer sight radius for "iron" sights, and the ease of concealing from the shorter grip.
Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

I too agree about the difficulty in concealing a fullsize pistol of any manufacturer but we have to remember this wasnt meant to be a concealed carry piece. It was designed for the military contract and I'm pretty sure printing is of little concern...

3rd Gen G-19 with a Glock threaded barrel. Wink
It's almost the same length as the G-17 barrel in a G-19 package.

Did you negotiate? My dealer was priced at $749. I gave him an eye-roll and asked what his real price was. Got it for $599. I've bought 20 Glocks at blue label prices ($398), so it was sticker shock to me, but worth it. Its my favorite Glock by far.

I'm switching to the Gen 5 platform. I think this might be my "house gun". I like the regular Gen 5 19 for carry. The 17 with Ameriglo will also fill this service with a proper holster. I'll compete with a Gen 5 Glock 34. Maybe with Carry Optics, maybe not. But I'm sold on this platform.

Picked up the 19x today and really pleased with it. Excellent trigger and fantastic shooting gun, as others have said, the grip adds tremendous balance to the 19. Really like it quite a bit. This will be no problem to carry if you choose to.

This is the 19x grip vs. the 229 legion. About the difference of the quarter in the grip length.

It should since nothing has changed in the lug lock up or barrel OD with G19 Gen 5 or the G19X. The G17 Gen 5 does have a different lock up than the previous versions. It is now the same as the G19, so I guess even a G17 gen 5 barrel will fit G19's.

To be sure, you might check with SilencerCo.

I am not usually one to buy into hyped-up, military colored guns, but after I actually held and fired my 19X, I knew I made a great purchase. There is something about this combo that just fits. Glocks typically point a little high for me, but this one points very naturally. The recoil impulse is very easy to get back on target with, and it carries very nicely in my G19 holsters. It seems akin to how I shoot Commander sized 1911s better than full-sized 1911s. Also, the ambi slide stops are great; being a lefty, I didn't know what I was missing. I love this gun.

Other than the “poopy diaper” color, here’s why I wouldn’t buy one...

My local gun shop guy was ripping on it but said he is stocking it anyways cuz like all Glocks, they sell like hotcakes.

I just bought a second one as a spare. I actually found one with a serial number 2 digits off from my first one at a different dealer so I snapped it up. These pistols feel custom made for me. The mag thing means nothing to me. I have about 20 NON Gen 5 mags that work no problem. The 6 Gen 5 mags i have i just use in my new Ruger PPC 9mm carbine. (Which is awesome btw).

OMG, the Gen 5 magazine is the death of Glock. <sarcasm>

Or - if you are worried about magazine compatibility with your Gen 5 Glock 17 and the G19X, buy a couple of these...

To any 19X owners, did your rear sight come pushed all the way to the right or were they centered?

I recall reading from a different forum or thread that a guy contacted Glock CS and they basically said they pushed the sights to the right from the factory because of people pulling or pushing their shot for one reason or another.

Pic related, I have yet to shoot my 19X but this is how my rear sight looks.

Mine both came with Glock night sights perfectly centered. But when I bought my gen 5 glock 19 back when they first came out, the rear sight was way over. The 19 sight that was way over was not a nightsight .

I have the new Gen 5 17 and the gen 5 19 also ,and a new X carry 320 . I went looking for a new 320 full size with all the upgrades because I still have Holster rigs in kydex and leather for full 320. but when I saw the new Glock 19X in person and tried out the trigger , which was great, I took it home . I like the Commander size guns , and the color is no problem . I will try it out Sun.

Sucks but good reason to have a Glock Sight pusher. I usually need to tweak my sights as I get them centered to where the weapon shoots.

My 19 Gen 5 sights were off center. The 19X were centered.

The sights on our G19X were properly centered when received. As an aside, the night sights on the G19X are a pleasant upgrade for us compared to the factory plastic sights on other models, which we generally switch out pretty quickly (at considerable extra expense).

We trudge on.

The OEM NS on my G19X were the first thing I removed and sold.
I prefer Ameriglo/Trijicon/Dawson depending on use.
