If I ever decide to buy another Beretta it would be the Elite II. I'd still want to work the trigger. I've never liked Beretta triggers. I love the lines of the Elite II.
Funny you post this, I was looking at Beretta 92 Elite IIs online this morning after seeing one in CSI Miami last night. It is a beautiful gun! Id love to get one in 9mm. Currently there is only one on gunbroker and I have never seen one in person.

I had a Beretta 92G-SD, which was similar to the Elite. It had all the features of the Elite, with night sights, Brigadier slide, front strap checkering, rail and a stainless barrel. I loved it, but traded it for my first Sig. (NIB P226 even up)
Before I traded it I bought a Beretta Storm CX4 Carbine that took 92FS magazines and I still own that. So, once in a while I catch myself looking for another Beretta 92. Well, I found an article reviewing a Beretta Elite III. It describes the pistol I had and it should be around $625. It is a little high for a Beretta 92, but it sounds like it will have everything that Beretta has ever offered on a 92FS. I may pick one up, if I can convince my wife I need it!!! It sounds like they will be out fourth quarter 2008, so any time now.

The Elite II is the only Beretta I have. It's been a good one, never had a malfunction and the trigger and accuracy are very comparable to any of the other full size nines.
"But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock
I've handled and inspected Beretta 92G Elite II's. Never handled the original Elite, but they're essentially the same thing, with stainless barrels only in the first version.
Decocker-only instead of a safety catch (the safety lever is spring loaded, which makes me happy inside - no more accidentally putting your weapon on safe when racking the slide).
Fit and finish is typical of Beretta's aesthetic awesomeness, if not better. The damn things open and close like bank vaults.
The triggers are AMAZING. They didn't do anything about the length of the double action pull, which is annoying, but it's lighter; the single action is BUTTER.
If I ever trip over a nice used one for a good price, she's MINE.

I currently oen an Elite 1A and an Elite II. Both are excellent guns. I would highly recommend the installation of a 'D' spring, from a DAO pistol to greatly lighten the trigger pull. In addition I would install a Wolff INS trigger return spring and to polish the trigger pin (you will have to install a metal trigger in place of the polymer coated trigger installed in many newer Beretta's). This will go a long way towards eliminating any creep in the trigger that may be evident. These fairly simple and cheap modifications will greatly improve the trigger pull and also make it easier to detail strip the frame (the trigger return spring can be a pain-in-the-a**!! They are great pistols and address, at least in my opinion, some of the very few shortcomings of the standard 92 series pistols.
