welcome to the forum

the thinnest are the aluminum ones offered by Hogue. there are no wood grips which will be as thin as the plastic factory ones. if you'd like a bit more "grip", Hogue will re-crecker your facory plastic

+1. I got the Hogue Extreme grips (aluminum)and they are much thinner than the stock grips or Crimson Trace. They're pricey, but along with the short trigger, make the gun fit much better in my smallish hand.

"The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once." - Judge Kozinski

Nills look good but thay always have. On the Houge grips would you get checkered or uncheckered? I 've heard the checkering is sharp on the Hogue and I intend to carry off duty in a FIST IWB tuckable. Would the smooth Houges with a little skate board tape(showing my age there) be as good as the checkered grips? How sharp is the Nill checkering.

ok, sort of a hijack but hopefully directly related: My hands fit my 228 & 229's well. It is a very comfortable grip. But, I really want to add a 226 to my collection. The grip width doesn't seem to be an issue but it is a bit of a reach to the trigger. Would a short trigger be enough of a fix or maybe the combo of thinner aluminum grips and a short trigger?

I realize you guys haven't seen my hand try to hold the 226 but I'm looking for comments from someone who added the trigger as to how much difference it made...

thanks, Mark
