Why is the SIG MPX 8" Barrel Only available as an SBR?

I noticed that the SIG MPX 9mm pistol 8" barrel is now being advertised as an SBR on SIG's website. Some suppliers still have it in stock. Manager at my LGS stated it was being discontinued. Any insights into why?
