This weekend I'll probably spend around $670 for a new P239 .40 cal. w/night sights, plus .40 cal ammo, plus Hogue fingergrove grip.

Is $670 a Good, Fair, High price for the P239 alone?

Thanks for your help.

As others do here, I check pricing on GunBroker to get an idea on a fair market value.

I would certainly try to shoot one before I bought it.

The 239 in 40 can be a real handfull.

Among others, I have a Kimber Custom TLE II and Glock 36, both .45s. How would it compare to them?

I have a P239 in 9mm with the Hogue finger groove grips. They make a very nice combination. As stated above, the P239 in 40 may be a bit much, but it depends on your recoil tolerance level.

I've used P239 in both .40 and 9mm... I like 'em both. And the Hogues are a wonderful addition. I love 'em.

I have a problem with the bore axis being so high on it combined with the small grip. Way too much muzzle flip for me.

YMMV

I had one. Got rid of it. For what it is, it's heavy, low-cap, and expensive at today's prices. (And I paid 425 for mine, a few years back.)

I'd look at a 229 in 9mm or a Glock 19.

I have exactly what you are trying to get except I have a DAK trigger..and this pistol can be a handful. I'd definitely try it out first before you jump on the .40 as 9mm might be the way to go (I've seen a lot of people recommend the latter caliber).

If I had to do it over again, I'd get a 9mm in DA/SA. But that's just me.

The 239, however, is a beautiful little pistol and conceals nicely. The Hogue finger grips make a world of difference as well.

Good luck with your purchase!

recoil is no big deal. As a matter of fact the 239 is one of the softest recoiling .40's on the market. I carry one sometimes but I think a HK P2000sk or G23/27 is as easy to conceal and you get a few extra rounds.

The price is about right. I paid $700 for my 239 9mm CCW package from Ted at TNG. I haven't shot the 40, but the 239 with +P ammo is great. IF I bought one now I'd get the SAS GEN 2. More money though. Good Luck

Ummmm... There's a variety of opinion here.

Doesn't look like I'm going to have an opportunity to fire one beforehand.

Based on the comments, it sounds like this thing has a fair amount of recoil. How does the recoil compare to a Glock model 36 or Kimber Custom TLE (both .45s)?

Lot of recoil discussion, but my 239 I find to be one of the most accurate Sigs I have currently. I have one set up for .40. .357 and 9mm - so I can compare recoil in all three calibers!

Compared to a sub Glock like the 36, recoil is not bad at all, especially if it has Hogues.

Get the gun, I think you'll like it.
And if you don't I'll swap you a hard chromed 228 for it down the road :-)
